architectural design? what do you think about the architectural design field? is it a good field to invest in?
Architectural design? I may be interested in architectural design, but I have a few questions. First of all, I have a few years left of high school to prepare for this career, but what should I do? Should I draw architecture and learn about how it changes? Anything with math? And what does an architectural planner do? Are there jobs in this field that don't involve math, and if so, what are they? What are some things I may encounter? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
Would a marketing degree be acceptable in architectural design? I know this is an odd question BUT... Can someone who has a marketing or business degree, enter a graduate architectural design program at a university, let's say, Auburn? Where they could do marketing & design in an architectural firm? Is that even possible? Or would one need to have some other type of degree, if so, what would be more beneficial? It's just that the main concern is, if a different degree is needed, then 2 or 3 years of undergraduate courses would be required, I am pretty positive. Thanks so much!
What are the architectural design practice limitations for a draughtperson in UK? I would like to know the limitations for draughtpersons in UK especially in the architectural field.I know most draughtspersons design extensions and lofts and prepare CAD drawings but what is the limit to their practice and also if there are any associations or societies for draughtspersons in UK.Im sure there is someone out there who can share some bit of information regarding this..............
What universities have go Architectural and/or Interior Design Programs? I'm a junior in high school, looking into colleges, and my plan right now is to major in architectural design and minor in interior design (or something along those lines). I don't know much about colleges or how they're ranked, so can anyone give me some suggestions about what universities to look into? My grades are okay, But Harvard/Yale is probably not going to happen. I live in Illinois, and something in state would be nice because of lowered tuition :] Thanks! Oops I meant to say 'Good Architectural' haha.
What major should I be for architectural design? What major should I be if I want to do architectural design? like designing buildings and its environment.. Since there's so many majors that are similar like civil engineering, construction engineering and architecture, I'm so confused! (also, is it a good idea to go to tech school or art school in my case?)
with a Civil/structural degree, is it possible to still be involved in pure architectural design? With a ArchE degree or a Civil/structural degree, is it possible to still be involved in pure architectural design, or will I be limited to post aesthetic design? I'm very attracted to the salary of the CE degree which i'm half way through, but my heart lies with design, and would like to be able to pursue Architecture later on once i'm not a poor/very in-debt college student. By later on I mean 10 years down the road or so.

What colleges (undergrad) have a modern approach to architectural design? I would really like to design very modern, abstract buildings like that of Frank Lloyd Wright and use computers as much as possible so I'm looking for colleges that have a sort of artistic approach to design using sculpture or digital media as inspiration/resources. Some schools I'm considering are UPenn, Notre Dame, Roger Williams, Northeastern, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Lehigh, Carnegie Mellon, Drexel, Penn State, and Temple so any info on those programs or others would be very much appreciated!

Which brand? procesor type, and other things i need to have?
What is the best architectural design software? I'd just like to know what any architects and/or designers have to say. What do you use, and do you like it? Is there anything else that you know of that is supposed to be really good or bad? I have some experience with Chief Architect, SoftPlan, and VectorWorks, and I just want to know if I've been missing out on anything. Thanks!
What are my career options with a bachelor's degree in architectural design, but in a different field? What non-architecture jobs would be interested by my experience and degree? I'm looking at the possibility of leaving my job in architecture, and maybe exploring other career possibilities, but I don't know what options I'd have other than architecture. I need a PC to do the following: Architectural design, photos, www etc. What is best for these activities? Ta I am thinking of getting involved in architecture, town planning advice and drawings as a one man band. My drawing skills are not overly fantastic and want to rely on a new PC. Beyond this I want to store photos and music. What what be the ideal specifications for a PC or laptop to enable me to carry out my work. What are the best machines out at the moment and if anybody else is involved in the same thing, what is the recommended software to work with for architectural drawings showing floor plans and layouts etc. I nearly bought an Acer 5601 on Monday but was turned off by poor graphics and lightweight software bundle. Now thinking of desktop. Have seen good looking Mesh, Eclipse, Fujitsu-Siemens and Evesham PCs. I dont really want to spend a lot of money for something that really isnt up to the job mechanically or is not a good machine. Cheers Many thanks
Architectural v Mechanical design Engineering? My primary interest lies within the area of Architectural design. However, due to certain issues, I may have to accept admittance into a local college that offers Mechanical Engineering as the next best option available. Being that both fields rely heavily on ones ability in Computer Aided Design, is the acquired knowledge of a Mechanical engineering course graduate, suffice enough to make a breakthrough into Architectural design as a career?
Distinguishing different types of brick in Architectural (design) elevations? Hey people, I've checked my personal library (of all of 10 books, hehe, I'm working on it ;) ) for suggestions on how to show contrasting brick types in a standard hand drawn elevation, and I can't find anything. Presently I'm showing the distinction by using different bricklaying patterns (that is, I'm using Flemish Cross Bond for one and English Bond for the other type), and while it works it's not really what I want for the building - I want them to be different coloured bricks, not differently laid (that is, light beige and dark brown). Not to mention that this method is very time-consuming, and I'm sure you all understand that I have very little! (lol, a 1:200 model , 2x 1:100 section and 1:500 site plan in 2 days - oh god) However, my studio co-ordinator does not want coloured drawings (and I can sympathise - I don't want to draw them!! :)). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
Architectural Hardware Design? I have been a mechanical design engineer in various high-technology areas for over 21 years. I am interested in designing architectural hardware, low to medium volume, for special projects. How can I get involved? Thanks!
