What is the best architectural design software? I'd just like to know what any architects and/or designers have to say. What do you use, and do you like it? Is there anything else that you know of that is supposed to be really good or bad? I am considering 3 choices for architectural software that are within my budget: Chief Architect X1 SoftPlan v.13 Vector Works Architect 2008 Anyone with experience using these have any pros/cons? To be more specific I'm using Vue for environmental renders but am interested in adding in buildings and other custom meshes. Which software or CAD programs do architects personally use? I will be studying for my Bachelor of Architectural Design next year and the 2 main programs I design with at the moment are "Envisoneer Express 3.0" and occasionally "Google SketchUp". I have just found an updated program released in January this year (2008) called InteriCAD 6000 but I am yet to try it out for myself. It looks incredible but I can imagine it would cost an arm and a leg. If any registered architects could reply with the program they use and recommend, I would be greatly appreciative. I will eventually end up working closely with residential (domestic) designing, interior designing and possibly landscaping... I'm expecting to be back in a classroom for around 7-9 years all up. Using Bootcamp/Windows Emulation on Macbooks? So I'm looking for a new laptop. I really like the macs, their Macbook Pros pack a lot of punch, but let's be honest, they're pretty expensive compared to other companies (like Dell, which I'm currently using.) What I want to know is if any of you fine people have used a Macbook or Macbook Pro extensively, using bootcamp or whatever, an emulation device to run windows vista or xp. Specifically doing this to use AutoCAD, Revit, 3ds MAX or any other related high-powered design software. Graphic Design industry standard billing? My company is an architectural and engineering firm that needs renders done on projects form time to time. A new graphic artist I met makes great looking renders for me, but question his billing to some degree. He charges a rate of 65$ per hour (seems decent to me), but he charges that for when his computer is rendering a model (could take 20+ minutes to render a view) in addition to the actually modeling/ texturing in what ever software he uses. It seems kinda odd that I am paying 65$ a hour for strictly computing power during. Is this industry standard?

This technology evolved to provide for interoperability in support of the move to distribute functionality between managed and distributed architectures, which are used most often to support and simplify complex, distributed applications. A concept refers to the ability of an organization to precisely define, easily integrate and effectively retrieve data for both internal applications and external communication. It is concerned with how the capability is integrated into business applications as well as how it is passed along from one business process to another. Definition The Saas integration model and methods can be extended to include the integration of anything connected to the Internet - desktops, servers or data services. It is an extension of information integration beyond the traditional notion of firewall to include data, information and services that exist independently of one another, and can be regarded as either a capability or a method. Saas integration is where integration and information standards[1] are able to interact to enable the exchange of information across many types of systems. It is highly dependent upon architectural patterns such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)[2] methods such as web services and standards such as XML. I'd like to seek advice on what architectural related computer programs should I pursue studying. So far, I only have knowledge in AutoCad and Photoshop, and nothing else. If ever I would study on modular courses (like training centers/schools) or somehow self-study, what would you suggest, and I wonder what's the difference among these 2 popular 3d programs (Sketch-up or Studio Max/Viz).
