Where can I find Architectural design plans for Taiwanese houses? I recently started going back to school part time, trying to finish my architecture degree, and when my professor found out that I lived in Taiwan he gave me an assignment to design a full set of design plans and 3D renderings for various angles of the buildings interior and exterior. Even though I live in Taiwan I never actually paid much attention to the design of the buildings around me. So I am hoping some one can tell me where I can find blue prints, models, floor plans, anything like this that would help me to complete my assignment. How do I find out what architectural design firms will be working on the 2016 Olympics? I'm currently studying landscape architecture, and will be graduating in two years. I know for certain that I want to use my degree to become a urban designer/master planner. It has been my dream for as long as I can remember to have a significant role in designing for the Olympic games wherever they may be. Unless you've been under a rock for the past few weeks you know that the 2016 games will be held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Honestly, it has to be fate. My family is Brazilian and I speak fluent Portuguese. I've never wanted anything so badly in my life. I've spent countless hours of my free time trying to find the slightest hint on what firms will be doing design work for the games. I'm starting to think it may be to early to tell considering that the games are 7yrs away. But seeing that it could take years to build the new venues and infrastructure noted in the master plan video, one would think they have chosen firms by now. Anyone heard anything?

Can I make money from my simple but original architectural design idea even though I'm not an architect? I'm not an architect but the other day I came up with a simple but (as far as I know) original idea for how apartment blocks could be drastically improved in a way that would yield improvements for the environment and for residents' quality of life. Good graphics laptop PC for architecture? Hello! I'm a recent grad with a Bachelor in Architecture. I've never owned a laptop before, but now I want one before I put myself on the market. I've seen many pro-Mac answers here for the perfect "architectural design program" laptop. Apparently, Mac is THE professional design/graphics computer, more than a PC is. But after weighing the pros/cons in light of my personal situation, I think I'm going to stick with a PC for now. I'm looking to run mainly AutoCAD, 3dsMax, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Rhino (definitely 3D design/render capabilities). I'm not looking to run these all at the same time, of course. I'll probably be using iTunes while I draft/render though. So perhaps my taskbar will contain iTunes + 2 design/render programs + Internet. It's possible that in the future I'll tinker and try to familiarize myself with additional programs (Revit, Maya, etc). I'm not really looking for anything over $1700, but if there's anything out there that's more than that, I'd like to know anyway. So hopefully this is a valid question: Knowing all the above info, what specs must my laptop PC have in order to simulate the best features of a Mac from a design/architecture perspective (good graphics/speed/power)? Naturally, custom-made isn't out of the question. Also, I hear a lot of people praising Toshiba and Sony Vaio. Any merit in this? Thanks a lot!

Religious structures, impressive in architectural design and rich in ornamentation, apparently fulfill a very human need when one considers the presence of an invisible being: they provide a tangible link with the unknowable, an idea that here is a holy place, a place distinct from every other place attended in a person's life, a place where one might feel a little closer to deity. This is an unusual thing, particularly when one considers Jesus's statement there would come the day when no one worshipped in any temple, but in their heart....perhaps Jesus did not reckon with the strong need people have to venerate, through architecture and ornamentation, the objects of their worship. At any rate, the architectural monuments of religion are an established, everyday fact for nearly every culture. What are your thoughts on the usefulness of such architecture in relation to religion? Are they truly necessary? Would religion survive without them, and, if so, in what form? What about those nature religions that do not worship in anything save the natural world? Do they hold equal place in the general esteem of mankind? Is the cathedral of nature every bit as impressive and sanctified as St. Peter's? Thank you for your thoughts on all of this.

Should I go for a Architectural Degree or Masters? I have a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, and was contemplating going for a masters in Telecommunications and Networking. But I've always wanted to do Architecture, but kind of convinced myself not to since I thought I would have a better chance at having a good career by doing Engineering. But recent events have me in a "thinking about life" mood, and I've been wondering if even a AS in Architectural Design and Construction Technology, would kind of give me an idea if my passion is really in architecture. I like the creative aspect of Architecture, throughout college I made some side money creating flyers and various promotional material. Anyways, maybe someone out there has been in my same situation, or maybe someone out there may offer me some help.

What properties someone must have got for to be accepted for educating of architecture in an university? I mean if there is some particular requierments for entring architectural education? something like ability of drawing or a knowledge of basic design roules etc.?

a bunch of questions about architecture? i am seriously thinking about becoming a residentual architect and always have been. when i was 5 i used to say i wanted to be an architect because i thought it sounded cool. but when i got older, i learned what it really was and i loved it. My uncle is a Drafter, my dads a painter/ freelance carpenter, and ive helped them both on add ons to houses, remodels, and other objectives in the construction field. im a sophmore in highschool. i took a class called Architectural design when i lived in california last year, and i learned the basics of drawing; on paper and computer(first years used ArchiCAD and others used AutoCAD) i have autoCAD2005 on my computer(though it is 3 years old), and i am now taking drafting classes in my new high school because that is the closest they have to architectural classes. but i also want to take 2-d and 3-d art to get a better point of perspective(my view for perspective is amazing, i find disproportional/unperspective objects/people everywhere in restaurants, even some museums, and murals outside on walls, and i know its not just my imagination, because i point them out, and after awhile of starring, they agree and ask how i even noticed. i dont mean only the design, i mean the shading(shadow) and color transitions also. now that i filled you in on my "experience" im going to let you know of my plans. i currently live in florida, but dont like it here, and im looking at MSU Bozeman in Montana. they are NAAB accredited so i can move outa state if i wanted and still have my license, and it is surrounded by mountains (i love snow boarding) oh, and my last name is bozeman if you cant tell by my account name. but that would also be cool, to live in a city thats named after your distant cousin my questions are, Do you think MSU Bozeman is a good school. Would my last name being Bozeman help/hurt/not matter when viewing my application? Would taking a year break to move to Montana to get residentual tuitions, help/hurt/not matter? can you apprentice before/while in college? when i get my car, i plan on finding an architecture office in my area and going in to speak with them and asking them if they might want to hire me to do their dirtywork. i dont mind the low pay, im a teen, and it is great experience.

Would you recommend the Architectural Association in the uk for Master studies? I`m looking for a master in architecture, focused in design, and i was recommended to look the Architectural Association as a possible choice. It looks like a prestigious and serious institute, but I'm a little bit confused of the AA aproach to experimental architecture and would like the opinion regarding this specific focus. I´m looking forward to the opinion of someone who has participated in this kind of architecture or that he is an actual/ former student of this school. The UK is a good option for me because of some possible jobs, but i`m looking for a program in europe that would gave me practical and serious skills for my practice, i don´t know if the AA approach is an adequate choice. architectural renderings (3d illustrations) or game animation+ art? Which one of these two is the better, higher paid, or growing career/industry? Also, if i want to go into architectural renderings/modeling/animations can i good to college and major in animation and minor in interior design so that if i want to go into game/film animation i can have more options? Or should i just find a school that specializes in architectural renderings. By the way, i'm not planning on majoring in architecture(the non-rendering type).

What are the steps involved in drawing plans and creating an architectural scale model of a house? I have to do a project for school, and I'm doing mine on a career in architecture. I have to have a product or this presentation, and I wanted to design basic home plans and build a small scale model. Help?

High school classes. architecture/computer engineer? i am a senior in high school. i'm pretty sure i want to major in either architecture or computer engineer. But i dont know if its good to take classes for architecture AND computer engineer. For example, taking architectural drawing 2, interior design and some kind of computer engineering classes. is this okay since i still haven't made my decision between arch. and comp. enginnering? i also want to know what it takes to be a computer engineerer. i'm worried because i have a low GPA. i didn't try hard during 9th to 11th because i didn't really care. but i just reliazed how important the GPA is. and this senior year, i'll be trying my hardest. i'm taking AP calculus this year. Do i have a chance to get in to a college to major in computer engineer?

Does anybody know any good websites about architecture over the past few hundred years? (details inside)? My friend just bought a house that she plans on renovating. It is a pretty big house (4 bedrooms, 2 bath) that was built in the late19th century and she told me that the realator told her that the house and all of the other houses on the street were the houses of people who worked on the railroad. There was actually a railroad right in front of the house but it is now a trail for biking/walking/blading etc. Three of the bedrooms are small but the realator said that at the time it was built those bedrooms and closets would have been considered fairly large. I guess they would have been because during that time people didn't have all of the "stuff" that we have today. Things were more simple. It just got me wondering about different architectural designs over the past few hundred years. Why did a lot of kitchens have pantrys, what were those little windows on top of doors for etc. I think I learned a lot of this in school but I either wasn't interested or I just don't remember. If anyone has any interesting websites that talks about these things please share! Thanks!

Architecture? Is it for me? Well, I'm thinking about taking a class a my high school called, "Architectural Design." It sounds cool but I'm a self-proclaimed type of person who can't draw a straight line with a ruler. The only art that I'm relatively good at is "scary art." The art that when people see it, they think along the lines of, "Is there something mentally wrong with you?" So, should I just take it? The whole class in using a computer by the way. architecture in australia!? hi. i've been reading up on the architecture coursework for the university of melbourne and sydney university. i was wondering, why is it that in the sydney university, you study for the bachelors of design in architecture and followed by a masters in architecture, while in university of melbourne you've gotta do 2 years of architectural studies before getting a bachelors of architecture? and subsequently the masters is done separately? what's the difference between both coursework? thank you for your time!

Architectural Computer Renderings? Hello Everyone, I am an architecture student working with an architecture firm making 3d Digital Models of various projects. I was thinking about going out and doing a small side project to see if anyone else needs this visual aid as well. I know seeing things from a 3d perspective can give one better understanding of a building rather than just elevations. What do you think? If you were putting on an addition onto your home planning on designing a new home Renovating a large industrial building, would you pay to see what it looks like 3 dimensionally?

Starting a career in Autodesk Revit any suggestions? I am interested in a carreer in architecture or design specifically using Revit. I have downloaded the Revit trial version and I have made it through most of the tutuorials. I am eager to learn more.
