Creative Ideas on alien wildlife? I'm writing a book called The Armchair Guide to Caelestis. Basically in the the future it is discovered is a planet orbiting the same distance away from the sun as earth. This was previously undiscovered because it is always directly opposite of us and is blocked by the suns brilliance. It is relatively small so we couldn't detect it through the effect it's gravity had on the other planets. It becomes a colony and popular tourist destination. The preface start out "Perhaps you are wondering why I'm writing this book when there is already so much information out there on the subject. The reason is this most of the information out there is either tiny paragraphs in tourist packets with the goal of motivating you to go the the sites yourself or long boring science e-books that simple categorize flora and fauna. This book is to enable the average person who lacks either the funds of the circumstances to make the trip to sit down and with the aid of vivid description and illustrations experience the wonder that is Caelestis." Now I have about twenty unique plants and animals but I want more. Here are some of the environment for the planet; A desert with black volcanic sand which is perfectly spherical. Underneath this is copper and iron deposits which though the surface of the sand does not become extremely hot it acts like a kiln and melt the metals underneath so occasionally you get slick steaks of red of green down the sides of the black dunes. Because of the shape of the sand it carries a slight static charge so at night when disturbed by footsteps or wind it glows and make a sound like rubbing on a glass rim. There is small ocean. At the bottom the ocean there is a super heavy barrier of an oil-like substance under which is trapped pressurized air. If punctured it sends up a giant bubble but quickly seals itself. Because of the planet's tilt the north pole constantly faces away from the sun. This has caused the ice to become super dense. In the under level the pressure is so great that the ice has become a liquid solid much like magma. So as the ice floats and shifts on this layer it occasionally cracks and water spays up at fantastical speeds creating beautiful designs tall as seven story building long as a mountain's base but only as thick as your hand. There lakes of mud. Swamps with pockets of exploding gas. Rivers of mercury. mountains. You can add to the list. Oh yeah Please try to keep this scifi. No magic.
