Does anyone know where I can get good landscaping design plans for free? We just bought our first home a year ago. We would like to keep the existing flower beds on the side of the house (they are empty now awaiting liner and top soil). The front we need help with. I would like to know if anyone knows of a company or a website that can upload pictures of my house and then help me design a plan that I like. I am a visual person so the website idea would be great for me as I could see the changes and what the finished product would look like. I also need advice on what plants to add in what locations. Please help! Thanks!
Does anyone know of an online landscape design tool that's free? I would like to plan out my backyard so I am less likely to mess things up! Does anyone know of an online landscape design tool that's free? (Not the BHG garden design tool, it lets you design a small garden but I'm looking for something that would let me design my whole backyard.) If I could upload a photo of my own yard to use for the planning that would be a plus! Thanks!

How do I find out what architectural design firms will be working on the 2016 Olympics? I'm currently studying landscape architecture, and will be graduating in two years. I know for certain that I want to use my degree to become a urban designer/master planner. It has been my dream for as long as I can remember to have a significant role in designing for the Olympic games wherever they may be. Unless you've been under a rock for the past few weeks you know that the 2016 games will be held in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Honestly, it has to be fate. My family is Brazilian and I speak fluent Portuguese. I've never wanted anything so badly in my life. I've spent countless hours of my free time trying to find the slightest hint on what firms will be doing design work for the games. I'm starting to think it may be to early to tell considering that the games are 7yrs away. But seeing that it could take years to build the new venues and infrastructure noted in the master plan video, one would think they have chosen firms by now. Anyone heard anything?
help me collaborate on a name for my art business and ideas for marketing? hey everyone, i'll start off with a short background. my names terra. im 19. i do a lot of painting and drawing. i work in a lot of mediums, such as acrylic, oil pastel, graphite, spray paint.. and i do mostly realist-type art, such as portraits, still lifes, landscapes, ect but my favorite subject is people. i love capturing the emotion and character in someones face. now my current situation.. ive done some commissioned work, and started marketing myself a little.. (handing out business cards, creating a facebook page for my art, ect) but ive been talking to my sister who went to school for graphic design about expanding my little art "business" she needs to build up her portfolio, so shes agreed to help me make business cards, post cards that promote my art, pamphlets that would have my artists statement, ect. im really looking forward to working on these things with her and we have some good ideas already, but i thought i would open up the collaboration further to all of you. first thing i would like some help with, is choosing a name. with my old business cards, i just had my name and information and featured one of my pictures on the card. my sister and i have some ideas for the design (although, feel free to chime in) but i was thinking, i should create a name/title for my business. an idea i had was to play on the word "heart" and have a name like.. art beat(s) art's desire art attack art rate? kingdom of arts queen of arts i was also thinking of fitting my name into my business name some how (ie: terra's art, ect) but kind of gave up on that another thing i could use advice on is ways to market my art. along with the ideas i posted above, i was thinking of making a post card or pamphlet i could hand out to coffee shops, dentist offices ect explaining that i could rent their wall space/ display my art in their place of business. i think that would be more professional then just going around promoting myself and taking up peoples time. oh, and eventually, i would like to have a "showing" for my art. so i could use some help planning that. should i find a space to rent, or network with other artists to share costs and set up an event.. maybe at someones house or studio also, since im just starting out, it would be very helpful to collaborate with other artists, so to anyone who has experience with this kind of thing, let me know if you want to exchange emails or something so we can perhaps keep in contact and turn to each other for advice? anyway, i think that's enough for everyone to think about, and thank you in advance for the help, i know this is a somewhat long question.
What are some Mediterranean/Greek Isle decorating ideas? Earlier this year, I got to spend some time in Greece. And I fell in love with the country. The landscape is absolutely awe-inspiring and beautiful. Also, I have been a big fan of the design elements that I think typifies Greek design. In the near future, I will be moving into a new bedroom, and I will have the chance to separate myself from the decor that was decorated for me when I was 8 years old. Since, I was inspired by Greece so much, I would love to bring that feeling into my room. These are the ideas I have thus far. Feel free to judge them as well as submitting new ideas. http://www.boatbookings.com/images/greece/greece_dome600.jpg My first idea is to pain all of the walls a very pure and stark white, then proceed to paint the ceiling, doors, and trim a shade of blue similar to the picture above. The room has hardwood floors, so I plan on sanding them down and refinishing them. That's the basic canvas. http://www.bestwallpapers.sk/Places/Santorini%2C+Cyclades+Islands%2C+Greece.jpg.php?z&p=full-image One thing that I really appreciate about Greek design is that way powerful colors are pared with the large amounts of white, which makes a powerful statement and shows off the colors beautifully. This is important to me because I have a small collection of colored glass that I would like to display in my room. Painting white walls would provide a inclusive backdrop for the different colors of glassware I have. At first, I wanted to incorporate my favorite color, orange, as a accent wall color, but I do not think it will fit in with the Greek look I'm going for or match well with the blue. Also, it would compete with the colors I want to bring in with the glassware, fabric, accessories, etc. My last major decision is to whether I should go with bright, vivid colors, which seem to be more reminiscent of the Greek Isles, or go with more natural, earth tones color scheme. Both would incorporate an eclectic color scheme, I just do not know if it is more becoming for a young adult to have vivid colors or more naturally occurring shades of the same colors. So, do you have any ideas and suggestion about different elements I could incorporate in the room? What do you think of my initial plan?
Visual design major work, Please help.? Aim: To create a large pencil drawing that is an illustrated page from a story book based on fantasy or dreams where the impossible appears to be possible (a visual paradox) because of how skillfully you create the tonal detail. Find: three images (that should reflect your interests and/or personal "likes"), that can be combined to create a fictional, yet "real" picture, (eg a city building with a fisherman catching a shark) 1. image 1: must be a person or a portrait, or animal- the animal can be real or imagined like a dragon or a unicorn ect. 2. Image 2: Much be a scene in which to place the other two images, eg, a city scene, landscape, inside a building or a beach ect. 3. Image 3: is a free choice- it should be something odd and unexpected that does not "fit" or is out of place with the other images. images colected must be photographs not cartoons. proccess- planning, brainstorm ect. Title page in visual arts diary. -draft for you story: approx 1000 words. -Make a story board- 6-10 rectangles. -Start your drawing. That is my visual arts major work assignment (with some details left out), sound easy? Well if you dont have any ideas in your head, it can become difficult. So my question is.. can anyone please give me any advice to help me gather my own ideas as i think it would be wrong to ask for you to give me your own ideas. Its just not coming to at this moment and really need to get a start on my planning as soon as possible, as it can help in the future for when i start my drawing. Also maybe if you found some pictures of a landscape or animal or something that might bring so ideas for my drawing. Thank you so much. :) x
