Architects? Do you enjoy being an architect? How many hours do you work? How many different kinds of architects are there? Are you glad you choose to be an architect
How do architects contribute to society? Do they do a useful job? I have been wondering this because many people think that architects don't do anything to help society. In my opinion, we travel around the world if for architecture, even if you go the beach; you want to stay at the Most beautiful Hotel. For example: Do you think that architects can transform a country like Venezuela? Best example is U.A.E. How architects changed that country. Right now, it is a more interesting country. SO, tell me your opinion.
How much do architects get paid if they work on large projects? I was recently considering whether I wanted to be an architect but money is very important to me. Also, I would like to work on projects such as buildings in New York City. I have three questions: How much money do architects working on large buildings make? What field of architecture is this considered? What are starting salaries for these architects, and will they be hired if they come from top colleges?
Is there really a need for landscape architects and interior architects? Also known as landscape designers and interior designers but with at minimum a bachelors degree. I ask this because an architect can design outdoor and indoor spaces as well as a building while landscape and interior architects can only manage part of a project. Or I've heard people say in some professions that it's good to focus on one aspect of a broad career. An example is advertising, you're better at focusing on one part like animation, rather than dabbling in all parts if you want to be most successful. What are your thoughts?
Advice on getting compensation for an architects mistake? we had a loft conversion , an architect working for a surveying company drew the plans (£500) -3 rooms including bathroom . The builder discovered plans were inacurate and an extra steel needed to be fitted. the architect admitted mistake and paid for it. when the bathroom was built it was much smaller than drawing, 160 cm at the highest point .A shower could not be fitted as the architect had drawn and the sink and toilet had to be moved . It is almost unusable as a room and Very unsatisfactory . Only by fitting a velux window (which gave a few more inches head room) can you even stand up in the room.If we had known the room would be like this we would have put in planning application for a dorma window . The architects company have not replied to our letter of complaint asking for compensation . What is the best course of action to get compensation?
Can Architects work their way up to being wealthy? Most architects, at leas the ones starting out, don't earn much, not more than $70,000.00 a year. However, is it possible for senior architects who have nice and popular designs or ones who are the head at firms to become rich?
Where was the Energy Saving Scheme first established, and when did Architects start to respond to it? I'm doing a research about how the Energy Saving Scheme had changed Architecture. I would like to ask if any of you know when people started the Energy Saving Scheme (i.e. reduce energy wasting, reduce carbon emission etc); and more importantly when did architects start responding to those things (i.e. making their building more energy efficient, using insulation and making it as carbon neutral as possible). With that I would be able to research and compare the differences between architecture before and after that time period. Thank you!
What are the long canisters that some architects use to roll their drawings up in called? I've seen some people carrying them before, and it's not just architects but usually business people in general. Sometimes they come with a shoulder strap, and it's a long canister that's probably somewhere around three feet or so? They have a lid that caps on or screws on and the drawings or charts are usually rolled up and placed inside for storage and then they can be taken out later. What are those called? Do they have a name? Thanks to anyone that can answer.
What are the different types of Architects? I love to think of designs for structures. I don't want to work under someone. I would love to be the one on top, the one who thinks of the designs, is the "head", and does the "inception" of a project. It's fine if you work under someone when you start out your career though. Or maybe you should start a bussiness? What are the different types of Architects? Which type of Architect thinks up the design of a structure and is at the top (leader)? Any ideas? Salary?
Do we need Architects in now days? I have heard that you can order house plans, floor plans, and other online and that people can ask Engineer instead of Architect to construct the building? Will Architects be in demand in a future?
What types of software do Architects primarily use? I am interested in becoming an architect and was wondering what types of software architects use, primarily in the residential field. I have experimented with: AutoCAD Architecture Revit Architecture SoftPLAN Chief Architect I was just curious if there were any additional types of software out there that I wasn't aware of.
What do architects and interior designers do, exactly? I know they design the exterior and calculate costs and make sure the building cooperates with safety measures, but do (can) they design the interior as well, or is that an interior designer's job? Can architects design the minute details of doorways and stairs and floor tiling and wall color? If that's an interior designer's job, then do the interior designers design the house itself or the accessories like lamps or desks or cabinets? Is there a job that combines both interior and exterior design?
What are some famous 19th or 20th century architects who had many works? Just looking to find some great work to inspire me. I already know of Wright, but I like when architects use a lot of wood in their works, so those styles are what I'm looking for. Oh, and preferably someone who had more than one or two works, just so I can see a wider range of what they designed.
How did the architects of the United States justify statements such as...? How does an architects job function? I know they design houses and buildings, but how does it specifically work? What i mean is, do they pertain to a certain company or do they move from company to company designing different buildings? Are there different kinds of architects? What's their average salary? I tried to find this on google but found this a typical Yahoo Answers-question. Those who can provide most detailed numbers (per continent, of even country?) will be receiving my points. Thanks and good luck!
A creative title for how architects use geometry? I have a school project in Algebra where we have to write a paragraph about a math topic. I chose how architects use geometry. For bonus points, we need to think of a creative title to the paragraph. So far I have "Geographic Architects". Not very creative. Any ideas?
Artists are the real architects of change? "Artists to my mind are the real architects of change, and not the political legislators who implement change after the fact." :::William S. Burroughs What do you think? Oh, btw, for the sake of this q, Artists can be considered rather broadly.... Musicians, poets, dancers, writers, photographers, etc. Thanks! Graffiti artist?

Can I sell my house designs to architects? Im 15, almost 16 and ive been designing houses for awhile. Most of my houses are large, in excess of 5000 sq ft and beyond. The houses that i have designed are extremely detailed and I think are good enough to be an architects work, not bragging but I beleive they are very good. Are you able to get in contact with firms and see if they would want to buy the plans from you? My plans are only drawings of the sides of the house and floorplans, enough for a real architect to carry on.
How much do architects really earn? I heard that although architects earn around 50k or 60k per year, they get big money on contracts (like 300k per contract) and they can do around 3 per year. (so that's like almost 1 million per year). is that right? If architects only get 50k per year, why are they seen at the same level as lawyers and doctors who earn much more?

How good do architects really need to be at math? I was thinking about being an architect, however, one of my concerns is the amount of math required. I am not bad at math but I am also not a math wiz. So would slightly above average math skills be enough to tackle a career in architecture or would be better of applying myself elsewhere.

Do Architects work alone or in a group? So I am an interested in being an Architect when I am older. I know Architects work together to create a building. But lets say that I am hired to design a house, or structure (I am the Architect,) what are my duties?
What are some of the statistics on architects? What is their average salary? How much can a student fresh from college hope to make? What are the hours per week? Is a lot of traveling included? I read that computer programs are overtaking the traditional paper... Would it still be acceptable to conduct your ideas through pencil and paper? I know geometry is a good idea. I took that in 8th grade, and got a low B. Right now I am in pre-calc, taking calc next year, and planning on Statistics for senior year. I am taking drafting junior and architectural design senior. What are some good math classes in college to take? Is there advanced geometry?
What kind of entry level work is available to people that wish to becmoe architects? I've spent most of my high school years majoring in Architectural Drafting and Computer Aided Drafting. I enjoy the structures classes and am looking forward to taking materials classes. What do practicing architects think of the TV show Grand Designs? I am going to uni this september to study Architecture, and over the last few years, i have been watching grand designs, it has been a main source of architectural goings-on. I think its a great show, but i heard somewhere that practicing architects are not so keen on it, which i find hard to believe considering how it makes architecture accessible to the masses. What do you practicing architects think? thanks in advance
question about an architects stock plan and making changes/costs? We want to buy a stock plan from a local architect and make several changes and add a mother-in-law apartment. The plan is a few years old and does not come on a computer disk, we would just recieve 8 copies. Here is the question, can we buy the plan and take it to either another architectual firm or a designer make the changes we want? (and then have an engineer "stamp" it- whatever that means...) The quote we got back from the original architect firm for the mil addition and the changes was very expensive. Do you need more info to answer this question?
Any architects that can answer my question? I have really good spatial ability. When I was little I took a test thing and there was a section on copying a pattern, and most little kids couldn't do that part, but I could. Everytime I take an aptitude test, or even myers-briggs tests have told me I should be an architect. The problem is I suck at math. I'm in a college bound math class, but not in honors or AP. What kind of math do arcitects need to know? I'm sure it is a lot, but I'm just curious, also how many years of college do you have to take?
