Interior Design? I'm a sophmore in high school and I want to go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and major in Interior Design. Does anyone go there and could tell me anything? What is the highest math I should take, and what sciences should I take? I'm in Algebra 2 right now and I can either go on to Pre-Cal and Calculus or take Trigonometry and Senior Math. ( very leaning towards trig and senior math, i hate math ) but I want to be the best at my career. Any advice of anything having to do with Interior Design is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

My degree is in Architecture but I have always been more interested in interior & kitchen design, plus you don't need a license to practice interior design in the US. Any thoughts, resources? And where do designers get those enormous design catalogues from? (think Candice Olson from Divine Design) Manufacturers? Hi, I live in NY state. We don't need one here, as far as I know.
How can I prepare myself for interior design in college? I am a sophomore in high school who is looking to pursue a career in interior design. Next school year, I am taking an interior design class. But I feel that it will not be enough. How can I fully prepare myself for whatlies ahead of me in college. Sort of irrelevant but: For college I would love to attend either the Cleveland Institute of Art, or Syracuse University. If you can give me any other suggestions, that would be extremely helpful.
What are universities with good interior design programs? I want to get a bachelor's degree in interior design. I absolutely DO NOT want to go to an art/design school. I want a large, well rounded university with lots of options like the university of texas. I have a few schools in mind, I just wanted to explore my options. Also, I know some schools want to see a portfolio with your application, so if you could let me know if the school requires that or not, that would be awwwwesome.
Can you do interior design in Virginia without a certification? I designed a room for a friend, and they ended up loving it, showing it to their friends, and now I have two more potential clients who want me to design rooms for them. What is the career potential for interior design? I wish I could choose to go into a field that has high demand, but my only real passion and interests are in art/design. To me, interior design honestly seems the most practical, but is there really enough demand in the job market? I've been asking around and people tell me to go into what my heart is in, and I definitely do strongly lean towards art, though I just don't want to waste my time and effort. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance or advice on interior design and jobs in the art/design area in general.

Does anyone know how to start an interior design business? Here's the details. Everyone that see's my home raves about my decorating and tells me I should be a designer. Thats fine and sounds very interesting to me, but I have no formal education in interior design. There is not a single college that offers these types of programs in my area and my husband is military, so I cannot move to attend college. I was wondering if it's possible to start a decorating service that just advices clients and helps them with their redecoration. Rather than completely doing the job for them and charging them some sort of insane fee. I want to give people ideas and then help them do that. Like painting etc. And make it very affordable also. Would anyone have any advice on how I should go about this?
What type of school should I study interior design at? When desiring a degree in an art based career is it better to go to an art school/career school or is going to a regular university sufficient enough? Is there a name for the interior design where they nail a bunch of random items to the walls? I've been in more chain restaurants than I care to admit and they all seem to have the same interior design cues. A bunch of garage sale fodder is invariably nailed to the walls; old board games b-movie posters from the 50's...sometimes they'll go as far as to find memorabilia related to the area. There is a Ruby Tuesday's in my area that has items from the local university and high schools on the walls. Is there a name for that kind of design?

I want to have the license so I can go in and make purchases on behalf of clients. How do I get an official license? So someone below says all you need to do is get a business license and you don't need a degree. I can definitely do that very easily - just form an LLC and get the license. Is there anything else I need to do and is this correct? I don't need a degree or have to take some sort of course to get a certificate or something?

How hard is it to get into the Wedding Planning or Interior Design feilds? I currently have a degree in Graphic Design, but I've been considering starting a Wedding planning buisiness or becoming an Interior Designer. I plan to go back to school either way, but I don't know anyone in these fields. So I'm wondering how hard it is to get into these fields and be succesfull. I have a little experience doing both and think I'd really enjoy either one. Thanks in advance! I hadn't really thought of commercial or domestic interior design. They would probably both be pretty rewarding. I suppose commercial would be a little better with larger budgets and customers probably have a clearer idea of what they want.

do you think that I should major into interior design and dietetics? Interior design is really what I want to go for. and I think I will. But the what if's are going into my head. So dietetics should be a back-up plan. but the problem is this: longer time spent studying science which I plan not to go into unless I seriously can't get a job in interior design. so do you still think that'll be a smart move to invest an extra 1.5 years in college?
