2D drawings from 3D CAD models? I have a piece of equipment constructed out of many parts drafted in autocad 08. Is there any way that I could make 2D plans for each part based on their 3D models? The foundry can't work off of 3D models, they need 2D blueprints. Thanks for your answer louis, but viewports only give you different perspectives of the 3D model. I want to actually convert them to 2D drafts.

Whats an easy to use 3D Modeling CAD program? I am looking for an easy to use 3D modeling CAD type program. I have tried CATIA however its very involved and requires very specific inputs. At the moment I am using MS Paint to just create rough outline schematics, and I would like to step up and begin transferring some of my ideas to working 3D models. I have very rough ideas that have no specific measurements or tolerances, I am just looking to create easy visual proof of concept models that would show working parts. Any ideas?
Does anybody know of a software (free or commercial) that creates "interactve" walkthoughs for 3d CAD models? "interactive" like we have in 3d games. The navigation part is controlled by the user, walking at a constant speed and height (human height) and not flying around the space! What I found mostly are Game Developer Softwares, but they all work with developer languages like C++, of which I know nothing about! :'( Anyways, any help would be appreciated! :)

in architecture office: 3d a-cad modeling is used as basis for design and only then, on to 2d drawings? I graduated 10 years ago and haven't worked in an office since then. I am picking up my career again and want to arrive not so green to an office as an entry-level employee. In ten years much has happened in autocad [and the way it is used in an office...], and I wonder where to focus my knowledge of the [autocad tool] so that I have an idea already of how the process works from 3d to 2d etc. So, is the model understood more as a -sales/rendering and measure ratification tool, or is it now more used as, [the basic draft] from which detailed plans are later drawn. I have taken courses on autocad -lately, they have been very useful, but they focus on the commands etc, and not on how are they used in such a situation--- self help books are not really helpful either. thanks for the answers

What laptop specs do I need? I have a Compaq EvoN1000v at the moment (old school!) and I really need to update it. Easy Cad Software? I am looking for a CAD software which is really easy to use as i am new to Cad and need to make a 3d model which is quite complex. Is 8gb of ram and 1.5gb of video memory even usable by Vista 64? I have built two high end computers so far, and with an increasing ability, budget, and desire, i find myself looking at building another. I plan on using an AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ in AM2 socket, with 4 sticks of 2gb Corsair XMS2 RAM for a total of 8gb of ram, and then two "Leadtek PX8800 Ultra Leviathan GeForce 8800Ultra 768MB" cards hooked together in SLI for a total of 1.5gb of Video memory, and then probably a Raid setup using sata 3.0gb/s drives. All on an Asus Crosshair mobo, with probably a 1000w PSU. This computer will run Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64-bit, and be hopefully so powerfull that it can straddle both sides of the spectrum when it comes to the huge difference between what's needed to run 3d PC games in max detail/speed, and also run professional Solid Modeling 3d CAD programs. Can Vista Ultimate 64 actually use all of the memory and video power? No sense buying in excess of what the OS can use.

Need help from a Graphic Artist? I work with a lot of 3D CAD modeling programs and STEP or IGES files. Here’s my dilemma...I would like to impose an image of a logo onto a 3D object (not behind the object) so that the image sort of wraps around the object, rather then the image appear flat and simply laid over the object. I don't know Adobe Illustrator or PhotoShop that well or if these programs are capable of doing this task. Outside of my job I am very much interested to generate 3D models of the structures (residential and industrial buildings) with accurate structural components. Hence 1.What are the suitable Bentley product(s) available for my requirement to model the structures in 3D and produce engineering drawings? 2.Do the Bentley products support structural analysis & design also? Anyone know of a 3D software for terrain modelling? I illustrate documents showing the old railway routes and wish to show them set in their 3D landscape without spending a vast sum of money on CAD software.
what is the best software for 3D architecture modeling? I have 3Ds max but it’s to hard to use I know auto CAD is hard as will do you know any good programs that is easy to use
SketchUp cant save in 3d and use another program? hi is there away to save SketchUp models and export them in 3d to another 3d program , or is there a cad program thats free with no demo ? thank you for your time
