Is having expresso coffee colour wardrobes, bedside units & tallboy drawers gonna be to dark for a bedroom?
I'm thinking of having fitted wardrobes in this colour along with a huge mirror in the middle being on the chimney breast, thought this would break it up & bring in more light? However, not sure if this look will date so quickly? any interior design help in the bedroom would be much appreciated!

- No, I don't think so. I think that dark colored furniture looks great with light colored walls though. I am remodeling my bedroom right now in fact. But my furniture is really lite colored (blonde even) so I am doing the walls really dark so that the furniture will stand out.
- yes its too dark and dust shows more on darker surfaces
- As long as your wall color isn't too dark and your bedding has some color in it, it will look fantastic. I love dark furniture!!
- I doubt it as most of the time spent in the bedroom is in sleep.
- Espresso is a good color -- similar to a lot of classic dark wood stains. As always, stain trends come and go, but there is always paint as a quick remedy and refinishing for the hardcore woodgrain people. Three things to consider: Style of construction -- these cannot be changed as easily as the color. Are they very ornate, very traditional, or very contemporary? Any extreme should be avoided, even if it matches your furniture style. A balance of these is best; a few ornate details, contemporary conveniences, and a mix of contemporary and traditional overall styling is best. Size of the room -- another cannot be changed easily factor. Will the wardrobes/fireplace mirror dominate the room, even when the rest of the furniture is in there? It should be easy to strike a balance between the bed as focal point and wardrobes/fireplace as a focal point. The mirror will likely simply increase the dominance of that side of the room, not break it up. Some blank wall space or a relatively small wallmounted objects (like a small sunburst mirror or decorative wrought iron piece) sounds like a better choice. Light in the room -- somewhat correctable factor, but still an issue. You mentioned the mirror bringing in more light -- is this because the room is dim normally or is it just because you're bringing so much dark wood into it? If lighting is a factor in general and your bedroom color is already light-colored, you may want to look into just adding some more light fixtures -- there's some nice track lighting out there now, so you don't have to do pot lights or spotlights for secondary light fixtures. You can also just get a bigger main light fixture for that area. Also, consider adding sconces to that chimney breast (this is very dependent on your setup though). If none of this is possible or desirable, you may want to have the wardrobes done in the wall color, the trim color, or espresso framing with wall color backing and panels, depending on what kind of fitted wardrobes you're getting and what your style is...
- nice cream or light colour on the walls and u will be fine. try mirrors on the ceiling to help open the place up.
- This is a popular colour at the moment and the mirror is a brilliant idea. It will look lovely if you keep your walls in a light nuetral colour with perhaps one feature wall and wooden floors and then bring colour into the room with bedding, rugs, curtains, candles, vases etc. That way, you can change the look whenever you want.
