Accredited interior design schools near Lafayette, CA or bay area? Easy to get into for a 45 yr old with...?

a high school degree working as a deli clerk? this is my moms PASSION and shes AMAZING at it...she has won the awe of everyone who steps in her home. I heard UC Berkeley Extension has an accredited program and San Francisco- I think Art Institute..but are they hard to get into? Any advice for a beginner in this field who really only has general personal experience from trial and error and reading LOTS of magazines/watching martha stewart and other decorating programs... is appreciated, thx!! :)

1. I attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh online--they solicited ME--it's easy to get in. Not cheap though. If she went to college when she was younger, her courses will STILL transfer (yep, I'm 40 and took two years off my current degree since I got a BA from Penn State in 1989).
