Is FIDM a good school for Interior Design?
I'm currently applying to the school and I have yet found someone to speak with about the program. I want to know if the Interior Design program is worth all the money (I'm paying on my own)? What is the environment like? Any tips about the interview? Another thing I wanted to know was about the entry project... what are they looking for in interior design students? Any other schools you would recommend?

- Hi! The Interior Design program at FIDM is awesome! My friends who went to the open house event at FIDM recently, were really impressed with the interior design displays at the event! Also, talking to the advisors and going on the web site to look at the list of graduates and their success stories is a great way to find out for yourself just how great the program is. In terms of paying for your education, the advisors at FIDM are great in helping students find financial assistance. Anything from scholarships, loans to work study programs, they always do everything they can to help you out. FIDM also has a very creative environment and is known for "thinking outside of the box." The school is also a couple of block away from the fashion district which is great for students who want more inspiration on their projects. Also, for the admissions interview, my best advice is for you to be yourself and show them just how eager you are to become an interior designer. They always love to see motivated students who want to succeed in their fields. If you would like to get an idea of what FIDM is looking for in the entrance project, I would go to FIDM's web site at: www.fidm.edu. Hope this helps :)
- One of the most over-rated fashion design school is FIDM which offers so-called scholarships amounting to some $36,000 in student debt. It takes the position that it offers a "prestigious" degree which will open the doors to success in the fashion and marketing fields. Unfortunately, this "prestigious" degree does not waive various job interview requirements which entail evaluation of one's portfolio, grade point average and passage of a written or oral examination. So, in the long term, you might have saved the $36,000 student debt to FIDM and instead, used it as a downpayment on a condo or house. A better alternative is to sign up for the Design/Fashion course at Los Angeles Trade Tech which offers exactly the same instruction for a total course fee of around $970! And Trade Tech is a state-certified fully accredited trade college with all the bells and whistles associated with a Class A education. Good luck!
