Question on Interior Design - Spain, specifically?
I would like to decorate my living room in Spanish style. I live in California - I dont mean California/Santa Barbara/Spanish. I'm having a hard time finding books on the subject. I really would like it to have an authentic look. I know to use wrought iron, use golds, greens, blues and terra-cotta. What else? Paisly? I could really use some help.

- I am Hispanic and I recommend you go to the local library and look through the home decorating section. Specifically Spanish decor. You could even look through magazines that have in home ideas. Have you gone to a Home Interior show? They could probably help you. How about the Web? Maybe you could type in SPANISH DECOR.COM and them push search. That's how I usually find things.
- Try: http://saharadesigns.com/ideas.html http://www.accentsofsalado.com/Mediterranean_decor_Spanish_Mediterranean_decorating.html http://www.spiritofthewestonline.com/spanishmission For wrought iron pieces, you might try looking in salvage yards. Lots of ideas can be found there. Large/small crosses, hanging holy water bowls. Bright colors, lots of wood, earthen/terra-cotta pots, soft lighting, up lighting around indoor plants. Hope some of these help.
- There are a few really good faux painting ideas at http:www.coloradofauxpainting.com that may be able to help with some of the design elements. Once your there, click on "Faux Painting Ideas." Then, on the "Links" page you can find links to mural painters, DIY instructions, and other designers' sites that may be able to help. Also, check out http://www.coloradofauxpainting.com/fauxpaintingcolor.html for the final color selections and click on the Benni-Moore link. This will open a window to an interactive color viewer that allows you to pick a room type and then change the colors on the walls to see which ones you like. There is also a function that allows you to upload photos of your own into the site and then change the colors. It's really pretty cool- hope that helps a bit.
