Where can I find interior design inspiration?

I'm about to move into a new loft apartment and I need some inspiration! Does anyone know of any good online sources either of pictures or articles that could help me decorate my apartment in a very contemporary way? Thanks! xx Emmie

  1. Hello Emmie, My website is a free information resource for eco interior design, perfect for the DIY and decorating enthusiast. Feel free to browse the link below. Regards
  2. http://www.bhg.com/bhg/ http://www.hgtv.com/ http://www.ikea.com/ http://www.decoratinghomes.com/ http://myinteriordecorator.com/ http://www.getdecorating.com/ http://www.doityourself.com/scat/decoratingandpaint Also, a piece of clothing, a picture, painting, rug, candle, etc can have inspiration to you on how to decorate. This is making me want to move out again so I can decorate - shame on you! haha.

  4. The best way to get inspiration to design your new space is to look at yourself. Look in your closet and see what colors you most often buy. This is your color pallet. Then ...go to a fabric store and walk around touching and looking at the different types of fabric. This will give you some idea of what type of textures, fabrics, and colors you like. Then...go to a home furnishing store and look at the types of things they have to offer. If you cannot find things that you like....consider hiring someone to make window treatments and accent pillows in fabrics that you really DO like. Seamstresses, (or friends who sew), will be able to make these simple projects for you and really shouldn't charge much to do it. (These are relatively simple sewing projects.) Also..... buy magazines, visit friends homes, go to traditional/contemporary art museums, furniture stores.....build a scrapbook of ideas that you like.... take pictures and compile them into your book. Also, watch HGTV and other home improvement shoes to get quick tips and ideas. Browse Craigslist.com and other sites such as your local freecycle group in the Yahoo groups section that give away or sell used furniture. This way you will discover what you DON'T want.... as well as what you DO want. Do you like harvest gold and avacado green decor from the seventies.... blehh not me... but i DO like marble counter tops and leather furniture with contemporary accessories and clean lines. Go to paint stores and get strips of paint chips, put them into your scrap book to reference as you weigh your choices. Most of all.......have fun with it.
  5. HGTV has a great section called rate my space where everyday people like you & me upload pictures of their rooms & people can vote. The best thing about this is that when you register, you can ask questions like which paint color was used or where a certain item was purchased. They have soo many rooms in every size, color, style, & price range imaginable. im sure you can be inspired there http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/Main.aspx?&pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b
  6. WELL Emmie, you decided to move and solve other problems.I would suggest you visit cloth shops.paint store to look at sample swats, WHITE makes a room look bigger.and you can trim as you like but not in RED plum is romantic.Red is passionate.water bed are old. On curtain pretty on the east side one one that close out the night but let sun in at daylight. furniture is probably furnished.you could paint chairs, and a throw for love seats. N OW what about that career change.and that moped.
