What have you always wished you had in your home? Any innovative or practical design ideas?

I am designing my own home and am looking for unique and original ideas to incorporate. I don't want obvious things like "more power points", I'm interested in any different ideas you've had, no matter how crazy. :)

1. Catwalks near the ceiling for my cats.
2. an open fireplace that can be used from all sides. also the water features that run through your house are way too cool.
3. yes a two sided fire place mae of nature stone or limestone. Im into the rustic look, I also like a shower with a waterfall.
4. My favorite thing about my house is the vaulted ceilings. It makes the house feel twice as big. I wouldn't want a house without them. my mom always wanted an underground house. Could really save on heating and cooling because of the insulation provided by the earth aruond you.
5. I'd love a double sided fireplace... one side in the living room other in the bedroom. I also would love a window seat in my bedroom for snuggling with a book.
6. A grocery lift that delivers items from garage to kitchen area!
7. If I were building my own home I would include a central vacuum. :o)
8. a dumb waiter a indoor/outdoor pool with sliding glass doors above/below the water level. cat tubes that extend outside the house so Kitty can safely scale the upper reaches of the roof regardless of the weather
9. We were interior designers in LA for over 30 years and have seen just about everything. But, when we built this, our dream home, I wish we would have put in a butler in the pass through to the dining room complete with a little sink, a dishwasher drawer and a warming drawer. Now when we have dinner parties, we have to schlepp everything back to the kitchen, don't have enough room on our buffet to hold food dishes after service and it would be a real time saver to just stack up dishes between courses in the butler or dishwasher drawer. Also, a mini-fridge in the master bedroom with a coffee station would save our old bones from hiking down every morning for coffee!
