1. Usually if you want someone to design a remodel and you don't mind paying heavily you would find a interior decorator,they have contractors that work with them.Make sure you get references and see if you can inspect a recent job.
2. I wouldn't. Unless of course they can come up with idea's you really like. I'd be afraid my home would tend to look to organized and have less of a home feel.
3. check on the company's profile and experience whether relevant to what you intend to renovate. This sort of information will help us to decide which contractor / designer to award the job to.
