Anyone know where I can get free plans to build a really cool doghouse.?

Ive been in the building and maintenance trade my whole life so I can sit down and draw up and build a house on my own. I just wanted to see so examples of cool things other people have done but Im not going to pay to see any plans and I have a hard time finding the time to make my plans or search around the internet for some free ones so I thought Id just ask. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. My Dog is a housedog but loves to be outside. I have invisible fence which he sticks to perfectly. But I know my dog and alot of people walk there dogs down my road, to which my dog sits and looks. I do have one idiot neighbor who will stop in front of my house and tease my dog with his dog, he has a "pitbull" of his own who cant be out even around his kids, hence the " " on pitbull. so when I am not outside with him Id like to have shelter for him when hes on his lead. It is a very long lead in the back and I live in Ohio so it can be hot, cold, rain and snow in the same day.

  2. http://www.ronhazelton.com/howto/Doghouse_Construction_2.htm I really like the following one and I wish I could build it for my dog: http://www.doghouseplans.com/
  3. There's no plan that you can have better for a dog house than what you fell in your heart that you can make. I have an uncle that built his dog's house with a small AC unit on the side, with a small insulated doggy door so he can come in/out. It also has roofing at the top. The love you have for your dog will plan it out for you.
  4. I'd ask myself first what the function of the dog house is. Is it where the dog may spend much time? What is the climate like where you live? I saw guidelines from the Toronto Humane Society years ago and they raised points I had never thought of. IF your dog will be spending cold weather time in it there are very important factors. In that instance, measure the height of his shoulders, the ceiling inside the doghouse should be that height within an inch or 2. The floor area shouldn't be much bigger than they are lying down and curled up. Their body heat can warm up a small space pretty well as long as a piece of rug is over the door, or something similar. A larger area basically acts as a heat sponge and sucks heat out of the dog when he is trying to stay warm. The walls and floor and ceiling inside should be well insulated and finished in non-toxic paint to seal the wood, with all crannies filled in to deny fleas places to lay eggs. The roof should be sloped to the rear to shed water away from the doorway and be hinged so you can open it weekly to sweep it out and put in fresh straw or change the blankets etc. There should be a latch to keep the wind from blowing it open. They also recommended keeping it out of the prevailing winds and in a shaded area for the summer. Now in a hot weather climate maybe a good overhang over the door for shade or other adaptations to help him be cool. Now, if you can incorporate these needs into something cool I commend you. I wish you luck and hope you take these considerations into account, I mention them in your dogs best interest. As I said, it was all stuff I had never thought of. Build us something to be proud of:)
