My question awhile ago if i can use running water to cool my split type condenser?

my house is at a river bank, can i use the river to cool my condenser instead of fan to save electricity. I plan to just submerge my condenser in the river. Do it will work?

  1. I guess it would work but why and how?? The great majority of the electric used in an A/C is the refrigerant pump. The fan motor is minor compared to that. And you certainly can't put the pump in the water.
  2. Yes you can, and it would be more efficient, until it clogged up with debris and silt.
