Any good ideas for a morgue themed haunted house scene?
I'm planning on doing a morgue scene for the haunted house I'm gonna be in. It's in the basement of the rectory of my church parish. The High School CYO sponsors it. Anyway,I want to reserve the kitchen area and my group is gonna have like tarop of painted morgue boxes hanging up and a table with someone one on it but I need some good ideas on how to make it cool and how to scare the guests to the next room. It can't be anything that is going to cost a lot of $.

- Have the guy start doing the autopsy and the patient suddenly sits up and kills him.
- How about a severed body where the stomach is missing and there is some alienated creature growing inside, which is dead as well.
- Definitely use a live person as the morgue "victim." You can find fake skin for fairly cheap to create post-mordem slice wounds, or to create the fatal wounds. Use fake blood (remember, post mordem wounds don't "bleed" like when the person is alive), white cream makeup (not grease), and someone's matte blue, brown, and green eyeshadow to create bruising. Include a toe tag made from a white pricing tag (large), tied with string to the big toe. Make sure the deceased has a story by determining how they died. This makes it much more scary and "authentic." (My thought would be to have them raise up and scream as the doc cuts into them. Cheap retractable knife suggested.) The forensic doc could be a mad scientist type, or could be maimed by the zombie corpse he/she is operating on. Orrrr you could go ex file-ish, and let the autopsy be that of the alien kind. Keep the room dark except for one very bright morgue light. Hide a cd player, and play creepy music, or better yet, the sound of a thumping heartbeat. You can get good sound effect cds at the dollar store, even. If the kitchen has an island, that's the perfect operating table. Just cover with a white sheet, spattered in "blood." Get some cheap latex gloves and mess them up, put them on the countertops. Fill clear glasses with water, add green, yellow, red food coloring. I found some awesome, cheap, "severed fingers" and "eyeballs" that looked great last year. Stick those in the glasses to be "preserved." Use pedicure tools to pose as "scalpels" and such. Have fun!
- If it's supposed to be a morgue, make sure it's exceptionally cold in there....It'll put people on edge.
