  1. just like your house.. except smaller
  2. I got all the supplies but never built the dog house. I got thin insulation you can find at Lowe's and Home Depot and any building supply store. It's blue and it works great even though it's thin. BUT In addition, I bought thin sheets of cedar that can be used to line the inside of a closet, and I was going to put that INSIDE the insulation as it would be a natural flea and tick preventive. I highly recommend you do that as well. Have you googled dog house floor plans ???? to find websites that give or sell plans? -!-
  3. Build a regular uninsulated dog house. Add 2" thick foam panels inside the walls, roof and floor. On the inside surface, cover the foam with cheap 1/4 inch plywood. I like dog houses with a flat roof. it gives the dog a dry place to rest outside when the ground is wet or muddy. It also makes construction simpler. I don't like any kind of flap covering the door because condensation can build up in the winter. A well ventilated dog house is a dry house. The house should be no larger than necessary. A bigger house is not as warm as a small one. The dog is only going to lay down in it. He won't be playing in the dog house. Put the house on legs so its 8-12 inches above the ground. It will help a lot in the winter.
