Anybody have any ideas please?

colonial and ranch. sales experience has taught him that he should plan to build at least three times as many ranch style houses as colonial. if he makes a profit of 5,000 on each colonial and 4,500 on each ranch how many of each kind should he build to maximize the profit? what is the maximum profit?

2. I think the play of this hand is pretty much forced -- by the description, you HAVE to have at least 3 ranch homes for each colonial, but you make more money off the colonials. So, make the maximum 1 colonial for every 3 ranch homes to maximize your profit.
3. We need more information: what happens if he builds all colonials? There's no diminishing profit margin here, so I don't see how the 3:1 ratio comes in. How much space does he have, and how much space does each home take up? We can't figure the maximum profit without knowing the entire problem. Also, since this appears to be a homework problem, you'll have to tell us where you're stuck -- I, for one, am not going to cheat by doing your homework for you.
