Looking for ready made (pre designed), plans for self build houses in the UK.?

Are any of you knowledgeable people out there aware of any websites for Architects or other organisations who hold stocks of ready drawn plans for houses and bungalows that conform to basic UK planning and building regulations? I need to submit an application for outline planning permission to a local planning authority, on a piece of land that I already own, but which at present has a bungalow standing on it. Although the current building is still useable and quite easily capable of being improved, modernised, and extended, I think that the land will be worth more as a building plot with permission for a larger dwelling to be built (possibly a four or even five bedroomed house with garrage etc. I know that there are companies that supply such plans from their own catalogue of designs but don't really know what they might be listed under, other than Architects of course. The companies can be located anywhere of course as long as the actual plans conform to British standards.

2. if you can find a house that has already been built the local council will hold architect drawings for that house contact the planning dept. however it is not neccesarly that easy before you can build a house you obviously have to submit plan to council for permission doubt they would accept another plan for a house already built remember plans would include boundary fences gas electricity water connections these would still be indivdual to your property you would still need these before going to planning. would probably need architects surveyors advice before knocking current dwelling advice before doing so.
3. I have just visited the grand designs show at the NEC and came home with loads of info. It might be worth visiting the 'Homebuilding & Renovating show' at the Bath & West Showground, Somerset coming up on 24-25 November - I'm going. I'm hoping to build an eco house that is off the grid so I'm looking for all the help I can get - especially as I am also going to hopefully do this mammouth project in NZ! 4. Hi, try caledonia-homes.co.uk or scotframe.co.uk. They are self build companies who have extensive floor plans ojn their websites as well as completed house images. It's not exactly blue print plans but the floor plans are pretty detailed and the room dimensions are listed also. Hope this helps.
5. Get a self build magazine from WH Smith they have loads of books of plans advertised. As for your plot, would be well worth getting an appointment with a planning officer at your local council (free) to see what you will able to do with the plot, there maybe restrictions. conservation areas etc..a friend of mine has bought a place in the country and is having to jump through hoops to get permission for a small extention. could save you alot of money and grief in the long run.
