Is precedence given on planning if other properties been given permission in area?

having side extension on bungalow planning say I must drop roof line , but i want to do bedroom in roof 5 yrs ago put roof over existing flat roof persmission given to follow original roof line. also in area other extensions allowed following original roof line. also lots of bungalows allowed to be turned into houses. do we have any rights because of being allowed once before to follow original roof line and what others have been allowed to do to their properties

1. Not necessarily as rules change re blocking of light, drainage etc..happened to my next door neighbour, had to amend all plans after three years. Good luck.
2. find out what the reson is behind them wanting you to drop the roof and try and work round it.
