Hiring an Architect to plan out a self contained extension onto my mothers house,any idea on prices??

i want to plan out a one, perhaps two bedroom apartment/granny flat, the width would be around 18ft, and the length around 40ft, any idea's on what i would be paying to get plans drawn up!! i really have no idea!!!or even if you are a builder could you give me a construction price, bungalow!!!

1. I usually deal with the commercial side but would expect you to get plans suitable for planning and building control for around £1,000. There would be no further involvement by the architect during construction for that kind of money though. You may be best to approach an architectural technician as they are often excellent and would be much cheaper than an Architect. They often advertise in local papers and would give you a quote fairly quickly. In terms of build cost, I would expect basic costs to be between £15 and £20k for a single storey extension of this size with no awkward foundations etc. Good luck
