What colour schemes for decorating rooms are fashionable at the moment?

I'm planning on painting rooms in a new house we're buying. It's a semi-modern (1970s) dormer bungalow so not looking for anything cottagey/victorian nor ultra modern!

  1. How about a nice chocoalte and cream, not magnolia though a touch darker
  2. light or dark brown, with accents of light blue
  3. neutral colours are popular, creams, browns and beiges.
  4. Browns with reds and greens with burnt orange.
  5. I am not sure what colors you like but from what I've seen in magazines and on home channels light or dark browns, reds, green, yellows, & blue are popular. See photos below for more ideas. 6. Around where I live at present the craze seems to be very Neutral Colours, But with one wall very Dark Red(This shade varies quite a lot). My home is mainly Plain Hessian(Dulux One Coat, this is a very very pale Grey/With One Wall A Warm Sand Colour(This is a very pale beige/yellow). Get some colour charts from a range of paint suppliers and go with your instincts.
  7. The updated naturals are really big right now. Comfort colors like gold, brown, taupe, clay pot, lemon, olive, in many hues and tones. No one is afraid of darker hues any more. They frame your pictures furniture and accessories nicely.
  8. Just use colours you like! Don't follow trends, set them.
  9. I am finding a lot more people are painting there rooms in cream colours then just painting one main wall a different colour, Browns and chocolate colours are in at the mo. Just done my dining room in cream and painted the wall where my fireplace is in dark red. It does look very nice and isn't too red. I then bought red curtains and against the cream wall it looks very nice.
  10. Turquoise and brown, bozo!
  11. i've got a crazy idea, how bout whatever color you like? trends in paint schemes have changed almost every three years like clockwork. find a color that you like and go with it.
