Is it a coincidence that companies buy supplies from stores and companies with similar names?

I worked for Home Depot (EXPO Design Center) and they used office supplies from Office DEPOT. Now, my current employer, FedEx gets office supplies from Corporate EXPRESS, coincidence? or...?
