Sources for hard to find building materials?

We are designing our own home, and the style is a little unconventional. We will be using sustainable/low-impact construction methods for the most part. We need help finding sources for some materials that we plan to use. Here is a list of what we are looking for. If anyone can point us to a seller, preferably with a website, that provides any of these, please answer! -We will need large, round doors and windows. The windows *must open.* Can be custom if need be. -Bulk amounts of rice husks. -Reclaimed barbed wire fencing -Hydraulic lime plaster

  1. You can get your windows at Bunnings warehouse or Mitre 10. Barbed wire at Bunnings. And I think you might want some jiprock. Hope I helped ;)
  2. Hi, I did, some time ago, have occasion to work on period cottage refurbs. We had all our materials sourced bu architects suggested by the herritage trust and conservation people. All your windows and doors will havt to be made as specials along with any dress timbers for surrounds. I had to design and make all of these with a spindle moulder in my work shop. But beware! Someone WILL have your pants down along the way. We did find a product called " vermiculite " this we used mixed with a lime based mortar to cover walls and with chicken wire to repair the concrete and reed floors. Hope this is of assistance. Jeff
