Planning permission on rented house?
OK, i currently rent a house with like 1 acre of land of a family of 2 brothers and 1 sister. Recently the sister put in a planning application to knock down the bungalow and replace it with 3, new houses. This will be the 3rd time that she has put the application in and the first two times it was refused on the grounds of some trees being in the way. Now she has solved this by making sure the trees will not be in the way of building the house, this is why she wants to knock the bungalow down. Do i have any rights what so ever as i have rented this house off them for like 2 years and think it would be such a shame to knock down this house. O yeah and most of the neighbours have opposed this as they dont want 3 horrible new houses built by their house. Im scared that the council are just going to say soddit and give her the application cus they cant be arsed to keep making decisions every year on the same application. Any help would be kindly appreciated Thank You Sorry if this is a bit confusing, i worte it really quickly and didnt really know how to word it properly :s it was their mother's house, she bought it quite a while ago cus she loved animals and it has like a massive garden witha wooded area attached. When the mother died, she passed it on to her kids who decided to rent it out

- Arrgghh! Please paragraph it and then re-post it!
- Firstly, the council will not just give in because she keeps making applications. Its their job to consider each application properly. Secondly, Anyone can object to a planning application, but you do not have any extra rights because you are a tenant.
- if the council decide to grant permission, then u have no say and will have to move. but u could get ur naighbours together and fight the decision while its being processed - sometimes if theres enough opposition they wont grant permission.
- I think if they get planning permission, there is not much that you can do. They probably bought the bungalow with the land with this very idea in mind, but rented the bungalow out, so they did not lose any money on their investment while they were waiting. So many investors do this kind of thing, it is apparent that it is going to go ahead, they would not keep submitting plans if they were not bothered whether or not they could do it. It is a gold mine for them and sadly, however sweet the bungalow is, it is their way of making money - harsh but true. Sounds a lovely place, but the acre of land is money to the landlord and money they will make, whatever the crime in doing so. You just have to hope the council refuse, which is likely as they have done so twice before. Good luck. :)
- Well, of course you have the right to express your opinion, just as any of the neighbors do. But, it sounds as if you are expecting special consideration because you have rented the property for a few years and that is false. It wouldn't matter if you had lived there 20 years...you don't own the property, she does. Also, if you do publicly oppose this, be prepared for your lease not to be renewed when it is up.
