How Do I Sell Electronics In-State & Nationwide?

My husband and I own a consulting business that is based in Johnson County Kansas. Currently, we design custom system proposals and plans for people, but do not sell or install the equipment. We want to transition the business to also do the selling and installation of the custom home electronic systems that we design. We have had several customers request this in other locations nationwide. How do we do this legally? What licenses or permits do I need? What do we need to file? I contacted the KS Dept of Revenue, Secretary of State's Office, KS Business Center, and the County. No one seems to know. They keep referring me to the other one and I am going around in circles!!! I know someone has to know! Electronic Integrators are not new! People sell and install these systems all the time. Can anyone help me? Any advice or info would be great! Thanks!
