Minimum beam dimension?

What is the provision provided by the ACI code for the minimum beam width? Can i use 200mm width in beam design for a three-storey office building?

  1. there is no minimum width. it all depends on the load. timber has standard sizes and so is steel. for canadian code, the smallest timber beam width is 140mm. that's 6 inches. concrete depends on load, the concrete cover plus rebar spacing.
