Architectural Designs

Who are the members of the typical team that designs a major building?

This question is asked by our professor in construction and materials of architecture class. I also need this team members' respective roles. Thanks already.

  1. Likely an architect will design the visual aspects and space utilization of a major building (including a massive impressive lobby?) and an architectural engineer will design the building's mechanical skeleton and select materials that meet strength (and seismic) requirements. Other engineers or skilled designers will likely design the plumbing, air conditioning, electrical distribution and elevator installations, etc. to meet local building codes. Many aspects of a building's design must be reviewed and signed for by a licensed professional (engineer or architect) because they potentially affect public safety (and insurance liability).
  2. Client/Owner: the most important member since he/she is the one paying for the project and responsible for the land acquisition. Architect Consultants to Owner- Civil Engineer, Geo-technical Engineer, Surveyor, Expediter, Interior Designer Consultants to Architect- Structural Engineer, MP&E Engineer, Specification Writer. Specialty Consultants- Lighting Designer, Acoustical engineer, Kitchen designer, ADA consultant, Model maker, Traffic Engineer. Construction team- Owners Representative, Project Manager, Prime Contractor, Subcontractor, Estimator
