Interior Design schools in New York?

I'm from Long Island and moved to Rhode Island for college. I currently attend New England Institute of Technology. I like the school and the program but I hate Rhode Island. It is really boring and I made a big mistake leaving NY. I want to transfer back to a School either in Manhattan or Long island that has a good Interior Design Program. And also if I can transfer my credits here to that school. thanks Ronnie

  1. FIT (fashion institute of technology) in NYC thats the only one i know. hope that helps!
  2. Two of the top interior design schools in the US are in NY: Pratt Institute, and NY School of Interior Design. I have no idea if you'd get into those, but they're certainly worth checking out. Because NEIT is regionally accredited, your credits from there are eligible to transfer. But I don't know if they actually will. That's up to the schools to which you apply. It's pretty normal to lose some credits in the transfer process, so don't be shocked if that happens.
  3. Hi - I actually have a BFA in Interior Design 9 years ago (not in NY - sorry). I've lived / worked all over the USA and was involved in many chapters of ASID, IIDA, my alma matter, etc. and worked for great companies so I understand how important this choice can be. All said, if I were you, I would look into this website: http://www.accredit-id.org/ Any Interior Design program worth going (and any professional in the industry will consider "substantial") is listed on this site. It's basically a council that does accreditation for any ID program - instead of the "wannabe" programs. For me, I wouldn't go to any program that isn't listed here. It would be a sad waste of time and money if this is what you want to do / where you want to base your career moving forward. Good luck!
