  1. Architecture is the building. Interior is the furnishing and fixtures.
  2. architectuaral is the actually design and making of the exterior of a place or building. interior design the the modification of the inside therefore decorating it etc.
  3. Architecture deals with the structure of the building (external), while interior design focuses on internal arrangements.
  4. architectural design is creating a space Interior design is filling a space
  5. one is designing a building and the other is designing the decoration for a room
  6. Architecture is the outside of buildings. Interior is the inside. :) Architecture is contruction, history, weight bearing, wood, steel, ect. Interior design is history, paint colors, furniture, flooring, windows, ect.
  7. Architectural design will qualify you as a technician, looking at architectural history, design and construction projects coursework etc. Architecture will qualify you as part 1 of your architecture progressment which results in you becoming an architect. This course will be more based also around the legal side of design as well as designing and history..such as building regulations, contract law that kind of thing. As for interior architecture thats what it is interior finishes the interior structure fittings and furnishings how the interior impacts the exterior.
  8. As an architect working in interior design I can tell you that: - Being an architect is a legally protected profession i.e. you must study for 7 yrs approx and pass 3 levels of exams to then be able to call yourself an Architect. Architecture is the term and architectural design means the same thing. - Interior Design is not so regulated and you do not need such stringent and long studies to call yourself one. There are even courses these days in Interior architecture - by which they mean interior design with the manipulation of internal walls/floors/ceiling etc - so not just the fluffly furniture and finishes such as paint/paper/flooring. - These days though architects can end up designing interiors and some interior designers end up working in more architecture and building orientated jobs. - The majority of architecture these days is refurbishment of existing buildings so it is not hard to understand why this happens. - For me the fundamental difference between architecture and interiors is the scale of the design. i.e. architects usually design buildings and leave the fine detail of the internal environment to the interior designers. So I feel that the interior designer is much closer to the end user and you get to design more directly for human usage. Architects tend to work in the bigger picture and deal with the technical aspects including keeping the elements out and working to stringent building regulations. - Then again some lucky architects get to do both - Norman Foster will design the external look of the building right down to the door handles! - Also the duration of the work is different. It can take years for buildings to get designed, go through thre planning process and get built - which can get tedious. Interiors however is much faster - the design and construction all happens much quicker and you get to move from project to project more often. - I personally love colour and texture and fabrics so am happy working in more interiors based jobs - it's an individual thing. - But I would definitely rate an architectural education in the first place - the universities are all very different be careful - some course are super technical whilst others are very arty. - You choose.....!
