Architectural Designs

Help with a research paper on Architecture?

I'm writing a research paper on how computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided architectural design (CAAD) can help make an architect's job easier. Any ideas?

  1. CAD can build a 3D model and see it before any expenses are made. It helps to share vision of one's imagination, creativeness, ideas. CAD enables you to see the future results. I'm not an architect but that's my guess.
  2. i am an architecture student, and i can tell you that CAD & CAAD can make life easier. it is necessary though to have learned the basics of hand-drafting and model making in order to use the computer programs properly. the most useful application of the computer is BIM (Building Information Modeling). programs like Revit, ArchiCAD, and to some extent AutoCAD allow architects to draw buildings in both 3D and 2D simultaneously. this makes the design process much easier because you can design on multiple levels and see immediately how it will affect the form of a building. 3D modeling also allows the designer to walk through the building to get a somewhat realistic feel of the space.
  3. I can give you a few examples or points 1-The 2D drafting tools of CAD: - Make space studies really easy. he or she can make "To the scale" plans and move objects around and check for space and distances. - Make and edit plans without the wastage of ink and paper. - Can make many options from one basic one very quickly. - The output quality is very good. - Divide any object or length equally or measure it equally , which really helps any design work.( and cannot be done that easily manually) - Measure quantities and Areas accurately within seconds. - He or she needs to draw the repeated symbols only once in their life. They just insert them whenever they need them in any project. etc.etc. 2- 3D CAD - Architect can visualize his design as regards space and looks by 3d Model of the project. - The rendering through computers however, can amazingly create the project in real world environment inside the computer. That really makes life easy with the clients. Hand made perspective views are also good but you can't edit them real time as in CAD. Not to mention the client acn rotate around the project...walk through it. Even a high quality movie can be made to be presented at big screens ;-)
