What is the scale factor of the office building to the model?

An architect is designing an office building that is to be a width of 50 feet, a length of 50 feet, and a height of 100 feet. A scale model of the same building is to have a width of 18 inches, a length of 18 inches, and a height of 36 inches. I got the ratios 50:18, 50:18, and 100:36 but I don't know where to go after that.

  1. You need to simplify it further. 50:18 = 25:9 Also, you only have one scale factor. All these three you obtained are equivalent.
  2. Just carry out the division. Example: 50/18 = 2 7/9: 1 That is 2 7/9 ft to 1in. or 25 ft to 9 in. Hope this helps. teddy boy
