Is interior and fabric design in demand in Vancouver?

Hi, Is interior and fabric (curtains, bedspreads, pillows etc.) design in demand in Vancouver? Other words, do people in Vancouver really care about how their homes look like? I don't want to offend anyone but I've heard that in North America and particularly Canada people generally care less about such things than in Europe. Just want to get an answer from locals to get a REAL picture. Thanks a lot!

  1. Yes, Vancouver is a rich city so there is a strong demand for that sort of thing.
  2. Well Vancouver and most of the Lower Mainland has the highest prices as concerns homes, condos and townhomes. Lets just talk about Vancouver itself , just the city. The panoramic view of the Coastal mountains, including Grouse Mountain and Seymour which light up their ski runs in the evening is complimented by water views ! Vancouver is surrounded by water on 3 sides, namely Burrard Inlet , English Bay and False Creek ! The city itself runs actually out to Point Grey and in this large bustling and very cosmopoliton metropolis are homes ranging from 3 million dollars to condos selling for eight hundred thousand dollars and down so people do spend money and lots of it on interior decorating and accoutrements ! Now, regardless of what you have heard about North America and in partucular Vancouver by Europeans concerning "frillies" such as drapes and linens ,I can assure you that homes in Vancouver are nicely attired so to speak ! I also think that a lot of "domiciles" utilise the West Coast Contemorary feel in their interior style and and also in the exterior landscaping. To live in the downtown core is expensive and that doesn't include British Properties or Shaughennesay so those palces are well done and manicured, and are classy ! If you spend that much on a life style I'd say you'd care about the paint'n"paper and the amenities you implement to accomadate your furniture and the decor of your home regardless of it's size and type! Interesting enough just google the vast number of Interior Design stores and firms in Vancouver alone ! *S* Hope that helps......and "yep" Europeans appreciate doily's over "First Nations" artwork for one small example , but they should look at how we do spend money to make our homes "Canadian" and modern and pleasing and not look like my Scottish Grandmom's "cluttered all to heck place" and I say that with the utmost respect to my Grandmother ..lol! *S* Hope that helps ya ! *S* ( Michael C )
