What kind of spatial quality can give the feelings of suspense, tension, fear and relief?

Hello..I am an architectural student and I have a project to design a house. I want the spaces to be inspirational in a mysterious way (especially the feelings of suspense, tension, fear and relief). I would be very happy if you could suggest me what kind of materials and structural forms can provide the mysterious outlook or if you could share on when and what kind of building or space give you these emotions. 1. I think you should have one or two dark walls fading up to red, and have mirrors in the shape of tears and wiggly windows, like, the ones that look like stretched out S's. And have the floors kind of glittery, and those flat down lights. Sorry if this sounds dumb to you, but I hope it helps. good luck =)
