making a energy efficient dog house?

I have to make a energy efficient dog house for a science project so that it keeps the dog warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I need help on how should I make it, what should I put inside it and the materials I will need to build this energy efficient dog house. (I am planning to use cardboard to make it and what colour should I paint it.
