The hotels dog across from me WONT be quiet! Please help?
I live in a relatively quiet cul-de-sac in a village, and before hand, lived in the middle of nowhere. Due to circumstances involving my parents, my Mum and I had to move down to the village (which I hate, but I hopefully wont be there too much longer as I plan to go to uni). The house is alot smaller, and my study desk has had to go in the front room which over looks other houses. I dont mind this, but compared to the back of the house (a bungalow) where my room is, in comparison, it is slightly noisier. The problem is we have a hotel/pub about 10 yards from us. I know the owners, they are nice, but very irresponsible with their pets. They have two dogs, again, really nice, but they let them roam around the hotel for starters in the dining rooms when people are eating. What's worse, we have a big front grass bit which is owned by the council, and I have seen on numerous occasions, the dogs foul there. It's full of dog crap everywhere due to these dogs, and people walk there, including myself sometimes, and I cant say how horrid it is to get dog dirt on your shoe. Not only this, but one of the hotel's employees (who I know and have worked with) brings her dog to the hotel everyday. It is probably the most annoying, nasty little dog I have met though. When my own dog ggoes in the front garden for a pee, it starts yapping at her, and scares her stupid (as she has been attacked before). And again, I have seen when I study by the window, that dog using the "communal" gardens as it's toilet. It has yapped and barked all this morning, giving me no peace. I am confident in my exam anyway, but wanted this weekend to fully prepare for it, not have my peace disturbed by an unfriendly little yapping Jack Russell. What should I do? Reckon I should speak to the hotel owners in private? I dont want to seem like an old biddy, but there has been too many occasions when I have seen this dog (and their own) use the communal gardens as their toilet, plus this employees dog will not be quiet (the other two dont bark). Or should I speak to this girl I know? She herself is not very nice though- I used to work beside her in a previous job with her husband. Lol, I have actually wanted to kick the little idiot! Not the other two dogs though, they're ok, but annoying for fouling. Yep, in the UK
Public Comments
- Kick them... I guess -.-"
- ask the janitor to help you. if nobody does, then simply kick the dog away!
- try ur best 2 ignore it
- I have always wondered, yet never asked, if people get themselves arrested for killing pets..
- file a complaint
- your local council has a department who deals with noise and issue like dog fouling in public ares, call them for advice.
- Steak laced with arsenic
- just go over and kick it... if you have a gun, shoot it
- If you have a good repore with the owners speak to them directly about the employees dog,
- give your local public health department a ring, the council are getting strict on noise pollution and dog mess etc.etc.
- your best bet is probably to convince your mum to lodge a complaint to the owners
- Try a burger laced with you know what over the fence.
- If you are in the UK you can phone the council dog warden about the yapping and the fouling and they will deal with it anonymously. Provided you don't tell anyone you have done it, no-one will be any the wiser that it was you that called the dog warden in.
- You can do four things. 1) you can talk to the owners of the dogs and tell them they are very loud. Try to work something out with them. 2) go directly to the landlord and complain. Technically, its a violation and they will be given several warnings before getting evicted. 3) do nothing and put up with it. 4) move out If you do #1, it may work for a bit and then it may start up again. In this case you will have to go to the landlord if you have already spoken to them and the dogs still are too loud. I think #2 is the best way to go b/c you shouldnt have to deal with people you dont know. they could be psycho or get mean. Also, you pay rent too and have every right to a quiet place. Its really the landlords business to deal with the tenants anyway. You pay rent to him so that you can have a nice place to live. They have to have several warnings before getting evicted and it doesnt happen right away. So you may have to put up with the noise for anotehr two months or so. If they dont end up getting evicted (talk to the landlord again to find out what happened) then i would start looking for another place or tell the landlord you are moving out so that he may do something faster.
- if you know them and they seem nice then they're probably not crazy. just go over there and explain that you're trying to study for an exam but you can't concentrate because the dogs keep distracting you. if they play you off then it's probably best to go on about how this is your last chance to save your grade, it's a college-level course, start crying, etc. maybe they will take him in but the next day it's bad news barking again. then i suggest you go to the library and try to study in one of those carrels they (should) have. because if people are loud in the library they throw them out (seriously that happened to me when some classmates and I were trying to do a group project--we weren't even that loud!)
