Want to purchase Autocad software, which should I get?

I want something that will allow me to create a room that's layed out the way I see it in person and add a chair rail or other features architectural features. I'd also like something that will allow me to test out different paint colors and design techniques. I've never used Autocad before and I know they can be quite expensive. I'm willing to learn but don't need all the bells and whistles. Can anyone recommend a software and the best place to buy? Thanks!
