Home interior design. What are the diffrences between this decade and the 90's.?

- Watch 90s tv shows that were set in the 90s to see what was in fashion back then, like The Fresh Prince of Belair (for very early 90s), early Friends (for mid 90s), early Will and Grace (for late 90s), Frasier, etc, etc.
- I have noticed a trend in that electronics and furnishings are turning away from the black and now are silver/chrome. I even find myself attracted to the sleek silver/chrome laptops and not the standard black. I don't think the colour phase will last either. Even kitchen appliances went from chrome, to white, to pastel and now have returned to the silver/chrome again.
- Not much changes in color palettes. Traditional colors for walls and fabrics hold firm like taupes, browns, and sages. The major differences are in kitchens and baths. Stainless reigns supreme in any new home. People have moved away from brass fixtures and now everything is stainless, platinum or rubbed brass. Anything brass in a home will now date the home. People expect countertops in kitchens to be stone or something like stone but never formica or a processed countertop. Kitchens are expected to have more updated appliances featuring convection ovens, upgraded dishwashers and in most more professional cooktops and refridgerators. People also expect master suites with bathrooms that feature large walk in showers with amenities and spa tubs unlike the cumbersome baths of the 90's. Tile work in kitchens and baths are also a bigger draw. In the 90's you could get away with the basics. These days people want more of a designer look in their homes. Flooring has evolved. Hardwoods are the rage or an upscale tile. Carpet not so much. Clean lines and open floor plans were starting in the 90's and have continued. In many new homes, princess suites with their own baths and jack and jill shared baths for other bedrooms have become very popular. Shared hallway bathrooms for the guest or kids rooms are not as popular. There are many changes and many things that have continued because of the popularity. We have built three new homes in 15 years. We have noted the changes and made them accordingly as we have built over the years.
