Can anyone give me an idea of a budget range for interior design of a living room?

I am saving up some money to have my living room redone by a professional designer, but I have no idea what a reasonable budget is. The floors have recently been redone, but I would need everything else (paint, lighting, furniture, area rug, accents). I was thinking $15,000? The room is pretty big. I don't think I can get all new furniture and a nice area rug for $1000. The reason I don't want to do this particular room myself is that it is the main room (no formal living or game room or den or anything), and it is a funny shape, so I want to make sure me and my husband are both comfortable in the room (for him) and for it to look really nice (for me). I am hoping a designer can convince him to take down the wolf print over the fireplace that I have given up on! lilbubbles, hiring and interior designer and then not let them complete the work/cheat them out of getting paid for their work is not something I am comfortable doing, but thank you for your input.

1. 15,000 is a very fair estimate, really you could spend a lot more or a lot less than that it really depends on what you want done. You should look in the local want adds for interior design students who will do it for free to gain experience, just make sure they have a good portfollio before letting them lose on your home!
2. 15,000! for a make over? Are you joking? You could do it yourself for 1,000, and satisfaction would be enormous
3. i'd say $15,000-$30,000. what you should do is hire an interior designer, tell them to make you a copy (blue print?) of everything that's going to be inside of the living oom (make sure you can afford everything on there.) then do it all yourself, or with friends, you can hire painters and movers. You save a lot of money in the end.
