Interior Design - what shade of wood floor should i get if i have black leather sofas?
I am re-designing my living room and must keep my black leather sofas but i really want wood flooring. I contemplated dark wood but i don't know if the dark brown and black will really go together? Any input would be appreciated.

- I'd go for a light wood like Maple or Ash.
- Id say go for a medium dark , becuase if you have a really dark wood floor and black sofa's the room could look too dark, but if you have it too light i dont think it will look good. take some samples from B&Q or wherever your getting it and see how it looks
- I think any color of wood will look good with black leather. Maple or pine would be nice. Even bamboo! The dark wood might be a little much with such dark couches. I like the contrast of light wood on the floor with the black.
- Light oak would be nice or beech perhaps ..
- I do not like light wood other than it does not show up dust and hair as bad as the darker. I like the grain in wood. Personal opinion. Here is the dilema you face. Right now you have black sofas. Your flooring will outlast those. Who knows what colour of furnishings you will choose next time. I would pick the floor colouring you like..I would choose a medium to medium dark colour. Not too light or dark to cause any decorating problems later on, and is very rich looking. All colours of wood look great with leather...even black leather. Try not to pick anything with a red tone to it..it can limit your colour choices down the line.
- I think it would look nice, dark wood and black is a subtle complimentary combination, especially with a white rug or accessory here and there. You should try out colours/sofa etc on the 3d room planner at mydeco, its free and very fun and uses real products that are made into 3d! http://mydeco.com/design/ Theres also a design forum wholl probably help you more than yahoo answers! Good luck, C xx
- Oak and maple are both good choices, but you need to look at your overall flooring for the first floor so that it all flows together. Try to avoid different materials and looks in each room.
- i would go for a oak floor cause its not to light or not to dark
