what is the differences between a bungalow, a cottage and a single-storey building?

I'm a wee bit confused, I am doing a cost plan for a project, there are flats and 2 types of houses - houses with a ground floor and an upper floor, and houses with just a ground floor. Is a single storey building the one with the GF only and the other be a 2 storey?

  1. A single storey building has only a ground floor. A bungalow is normally single storey, but it can have a smaller second storey (normally called a chalet bungalow). A cottage was originally a house built for agricultural or industrial labourers and supplied with the job. In Estate Agent's talk, anything could be a cottage.
  2. I think a bungalow is a single room (open plan) ...small living quarters ....and a cottage is a small house with one or two divisions ..IE bedroom and bathroom and a single story building is just that....a building with a couple pf rooms an bathroom toilet ect...
