Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 for Christmas 2009?
Frankly, that's about all there is to this question. Unlike other this versus that arguments, there is really no definitive winner in this situation. It is tearing me apart to not be able to make an easy decision!!! My first game console was a Sega Genesis years ago. I upgraded to the Sony PlayStation when it was released and later to the PlayStation 2, the console I still own to this day. I enjoyed having the undeniable winner of that generation of consoles. However, I have fallen out of touch with gaming and my PS2 collects dust. On a related note, my family as a whole does own a Wii (I know I'm becoming pathetic). I've recently decided to get back into gaming and am having the hardest time of my life deciding on whether to get the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3. Overall, I like the Xbox 360. I think the menu system is very user-friendly, colorful, and intuitive. I like the fact that you can do so much with Xbox Live (Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, Zune, online gaming) and how it is such a large inclusive community. I am interested in the games for the system including Halo 3 and Left 4 Dead 2. However, I am concerned about a few things. The fact that I would either be getting the Elite or the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Elite has reassured me that I won't be having RROD problems, but I'm worried that Xbox exclusives may fall behind PS3 ones. Non-exclusives thus far tend to have better graphics for the Xbox as it is easier to develop for and then just port down to the PS3 without talking full potential of its graphics power. However, PS3 exclusives today blow anything that could ever be released for the Xbox out of the water. On the other hand, Project Natal (the future of the Xbox 360) is much more intriguing than PS3's future "wand." Also, the fact that I would ultimately end up paying for Live (I know it's supposed to be better than PSN but still), a WiFi adapter, and deal with the hassle of controller batteries turns me off to the Xbox and makes me feel as if the price tag is misleading. With the PlayStation, it has some awesome new exclusives like Uncharted 2 as well as the cross-platform games like COD:MW2. The graphics potential is greater. With the new design and price, I think no one would deny that now is a better time than ever to buy a PS3. However, XMB bores me and seemingly has less features than the new 360 Dashboard. The fact that PSN is free and can or will do anything that XBL can do intrigues me as well as the concept of Home. With Blu-ray becoming an increasingly prevalent and one day dominant format, I fear that an Xbox would only prolong my DVD days and would leave me left out when Blu-ray dominates or leave me with some junky, overpriced accessory. While the PS3 can do many things, I somehow feel like the Xbox software features are more useful, more likely to be used, and easier to use. Then again the fact that the PS3 has little to no lag while the Xbox loads everything is also a concern... I am more familiar with PlayStation. Ugh. With games, features, and friends drawing me to both sides, I'm stuck in the worst dilemma with limited time left to decide (if I plan to ever have a chance of getting the MW2 Xbox). Please! Someone help me! Give me some rationale one way or the other without fanboyism. I want to make the right choice and can't afford a mistake. To anyone that legitimately helps me, thank you so much!

- K I'm not a fan boy of Sony or anything but I grew up with the Sony company to and I belive you should choose the ps3 over xbox.... I like the 360 it's not a bad console but just by hearing to get netflix twitter fce book all that stuff I have to be a gold member ship which you have to pay for it and stuff which as a 15 year old boy I wont cuz I don't have anymoney.. Like the ps3 may have the best graphics and stuff like that it has it's minors too the connection may be a bit laggy but psn is free so I could deal with it plus blue ray which totally rocks made me stick with it but there's one more thing you need to ask yourself? Xbox is more of a gore killing mans only console and ps3 is more of a realistic and rpg sometimes shooter stuff like that kind of thing so that's my idea of what should you pick I'm not a Sony fanboy making you choose it's still your decsion so you choose what you are in gaming? Oh also one more thing xbox gets damage easly Not like the ps3 you heard of the rings of death on 360's? Right?
- Both are good gaming platforms. However the Sony PS3 has a few features that makes it more attractive for me than the Xbox. The PS3 has fewer issues with the hardware than the Xbox (fewer total failures like the Red Ring of Death) The PS3 is a Blu-ray player with full HDMI outputs. The PS3 is a NetFlix compliant device and with a paid membership and a 1.5mbps (3 or higher preferred) you can get Netflix movies whenever you want through their "On Demand" service.
- If you're into ultra high quality movies and don't mind the repeats of game titles, go with the PS3. If you're a hardcore gamer that loves online games and original titles, go with the 360.
- Ok well everything is pretty much right from what you said, and as a side note yes xbox live is better than psn, alot of experts and critics agree but then again its all on what you think, second let me say that there are FAR more people playing MW2 ( or any online game for that matter ) on xbox than ps3, third ( which you can read what i put or just check online ) the playstation has longer loading times and lags FAR more than the 360. And you have to download the game to the ps3 to get then to run ( close to ) what the 360 runs them, and you can download them to the 360 so that makes them faster than the ps3, now before you think ah fanboyism right here, ya i know the ps3 can technically do "more" than the 360 but so far they've got killzone 2 ( which came out looking good but still less than they promised ) and Uncharted 2 ( whick looks AMAZING and almost makes me wanna buy a ps3, lol but i'd rather just play it ) which are really the only games that may top some of the 360's, Uncharted, yes, Killzone not so sure, but one thing to consider is which controller fits you? I ( and alot of others ) prefer the 360's controller, especially for FPS and others like the ps3's, ok and the RRoD yes it happens but its decreased ALOT over the years and rarely happens now, plus you get a free fix and 3 year replacement, but the 360 Elites are even less likely to get them, and as for the wifi adaptor sadly if you MUST get it ya your sol but you might be able to find a better deal for one online. Paying once a year for xbl isnt that bad, you get (some) demos and all map packs for games earlier than for the ps3, and if you like chatting and messaging friends its ALOT easier than on the psn, but MW2 most modes ( team death match, sabatoge etc ) kick you outta party chat which sucks, ok but think of it this way you get $ 4.50 every month from a pay check and bam you have enough for the year. Ok well thats my take on that, i cant tell you much bout the ps3 but thats why i'll give you this site so you can do a FULL comparison, graphics, games, online etc hope it helps i found it teaching me new things bout both consoles http://www.hardcoreware.net/playstation-3-vs-xbox-360-one-year-later/
- The 360 is a time bomb. ps3? Fart.
- If you want a serious gaming console, get the 360. If you want a Blu-Ray player and a gaming console, get the PS3. 360 pros: 1. You can talk to up to 7 people while playing a game, even if they are not on the same game. 2. You can use your own music as the background music, while still keeping all of the sound effects. 3. Online modes are really, really good (you get what you pay for). 4. A lot of really good games. 5. You can buy an extended 3 year warranty. 360 cons: 1. Gets a few issues, like the Red Ring of Death and E74 error. 2. Paying for the online modes can be a bit costly for some. 3. Most of the games are FPS. 4. The controller can get really awkward. PS3 pros: 1. Excellent games. 2. Blu-Ray and DVD player. 3. Nice controller for the hand. 4. Hardly any hardware and software issues. 5. Upconverts DVDs to HD. PS3 cons: 1. Using the Blu-Ray and DVD player too much can wear out the lens. 2. PSN has its fair share of server failures. 3. Can't do as much as the 360 can, gaming and online wise. Now you can decide for yourself. Get the console with the most games you want.
- As an owner of both consoles, I've gotta hand it over to the xbox 360. The PS3 is GREAT for HD and media, but xbox 360 is really for the serious gamers. For example just like one of the others said, MW2 is played much more on the xbox compared to the ps3. Look at the recent sales. At my local game store, MW2 is almost entirely sold out and only a few remaining on the shelves. The PS3 section however, has almost a full shelf. But a downside of the xbox 360 is the accessories, but really it still adds up to the total price of the ps3. And also you gotta pay for xbox live gold, but trust me its worth it. PSN is free but not very popular and the community is no where near as good as LIVE. BUT from what i've heard, Ps3 is having great exclusive titles in the future. But most games on PS3 get ported to xbox anyway. Personally i prefer the 360. This doesn't make me a ps3 hater (If i was then i wouldnt have one). I mean seriously, no need to get all serious about some "xbox 360 vs PS3" war. People need to control themselves some time.
- what a long thesis. i dont bother to read it all. i'll answer directly from the question. i'm not a fanboy or anything because i'll support anything that is the best. in this case, both the consoles are even out though the s3 has better features with a more horrible design. for my preferences is xbox 360 as i love FPS and witht eh xbox stiffer analog, its suitable for FPS. and plus, the xbox controller is larger so its suitable for big hands compared to ps3's small controller which makes it hard for me to grip it properly. plus, the xbox controller has rubber grip so the controller wont slip off when you're sweating. eventhough the ps3 has wireless, blu ray and all the other crap, i dont give a damn. i just want the console that feels good to me and that i like it. so, all in all, its up to you.
