- Solar power is a great alternative energy source. It is very green and can be economical when done correctly. Photovoltaic power has a large upfront cost. The pay back period can be around 20 years. However there are companies like Tioga Energy that use power purchase agreements(ppa). With a ppa the company will provide the solar panels and the maintenance with an agreement to purchase power from the company for a certain amount of time. This eliminates the large upfront cost as well as the maintenance costs. Learn more about PPA's at www.tiogaenergy.com. They have a lot of information about solar power, ppa's and how they work.
