Has anyone used online house plans?

I am planning to build a house in the near future and I would like to know whether anyone has used any of the house plans that are sold through various websites. I’d like to know what their experiences have been. I haven’t built a house before and I’m not necessarily trying to save on architect’s fees. I have, however, seen some house plans online that I really like and I wonder whether there is any downside to using one of them.

3. I’ve never purchased one of those plans but I would think that if you like one you can buy it and have an architect customize it. That should save you some time and money.
4. www.eplans.com and www.dreamhomesource.com are good sources for a wide variety of house plans. Although it costs a bit more, you can even customize the plan, just as you would with an architect. I used several other options they provided such as getting a cost-to-build calculator, materials list, etc. that really made the process easier to understand. Check it out - it's just fun to look at all of the plans!
