Design pre-fabricated homes vs. building dream home?

I was wondering if designing your dream home as a pre-fabricated one was cheaper or more expensive than designing and building your dream home through a contractor?

1. they both have advantages pre fab will cost less as far as labor goes and also time it take to build it will be cut down as for stick building goes there's more material used it will cost a lil more but you can see it wile its being built so if there is something you want to change while its being built then you can have it changed also pre fab depending on the company you go with are pretty cheaply built as far as quality goes
