can I use two types of energy saving designs in one building such as solar power and wind turbunes?
Im studying architecture 1st year and this is for a strawbale home in england thanks

- yes, no problem thr
- Assuming they comply with local zoning ordinance......
- Well, solar can be used as direct heating, linked into the hot water system. If you have photovoltaic panels as well as turbines then there are 2 options. I think some inverters (turns turbine or PV cell into mains electricity), some have 2 inputs just for this case, or you can easily use 2 inverters.
- you could use 50 different energy saving designs in one house why does it matter a lot of people have wind turbines, solar, hydro electric, and even bio power Hope this helps!
- Yes of course you can use any renewable energy such as wind or solar , but no nuclear please ( LOL).. I can show you a place where you can get step by step free courses on how to instal your wind power network at home: http://www.windpowercost.org , great site easy and full details...
- Two different electricity generation systems could share a common battery ad inverter system helping reduce the cost of such a hybrid system. One would probably do a wind sun pattern study to justify a mixed system, if it only blows when the sun is out, expanding on just one source would be most sensible.
- Of course it's possible, in fact many straw bale houses are completely off grid using both solar and wind power. They more or less had to since the cost to get connected to any power network would cost them a small fortune due to their remote and isolated siting. For your study you can use this solar calculator to help you design your electricity needs, here's the link: http://www.newsolarwindpower.com/solar-calculator
