What should be analyzed when comparing house plans?
My students are comparing 8 different floor plans and I want them to write a paper about the plans. What should they analyze about them?

- TOTAL FLOOR PLAN THE "FLOW" OF HOW U GET TO ROOM AFTER ROOM THE AMOUNT OF FLOOR SPACE CLOSET SPACE HOW MANY BATH/BED/CLOSETS/ETC. THE PLACEMENT OF CLOSETS IN THE BEDROOM BATHROOM SETUP STUFF LIKE THAT AND WHICH ONE WOULD WORK BEST FOR DIFFERENT SIZE FAMILIES. HOPE THIS HELPS I HAD TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN HOME DESIGN
- 1) Total conditioned area (heated and/or cooled) in square feet 2)Kitchen efficiency - ideally there should be a unilateral triangle between the stove, frig and sink 3)traffic flow - you should never have to go thru a bedroom to get to another room 4) number of baths and half baths - ideally even a 2 BR home should have at least 1.5 5) garage size and location - attached/detached/front load/side load/garage access to kitchen 6) slab on grade, basement or crawl space 7) In northern climate, presence of a closet near the front entry door. 8) NO ROOM without a closet is designated as a bedroom 9)Adequacy of storage - particularly important when there is no basement 10) size and shape of rooms - can each bedroom accommodate twin beds or a queen bed and a dresser? Room shape is important - rooms with other than 90 degree intersecting walls waste space and are difficult to furnish.
