UT at Austin-Transfer (Architecture)?
Hey! I am currently a student at a community college. I am planning on applying to so many Architecture schools in Texas, yet my main goal is to get into UT at Austin. I wonder does anyone know, from experience, how hard it is to get into that particular school. I want to know what it really takes to get in. Is my GPA a large part of that decision, with my GPA being a 3.0? I am not a Straight “A” student, but I do have three recognitions in competitions (High School Drafting). Also, at my college, I, along with a friend started a club for those who want to major in engineering and architecture. This past summer I also went to Europe and visited a lot of countries, including Farchitectural, masterpiecesland, etc. I saw so many architectural masterpieces and historical places. I am not sure if this is good enough. I do have some designs and works of art that include drawings, and pictures. How hard is it? I am a first generation student. I am the first to go to college in the U.S. I need as much advice as I can get to not miss a thing. THANKS! Excuse my lengthy question. =) -Sony I am really liking these answers! Now you guys got me thinking! Thanks alot. I'll keep looking through all! =)

- you can go to UTSA and do a year or two there and then transfer to UT of Austin's architecture program. My friend did UT of Austin architecture and said it was a rigorous program but it is recognised and you'll do better off going there than some other schools.
- Well - Congratulations on getting this far Sony! UT Austin is a pretty competitive school here in Texas. (I just graduated from UTSA) But they look at a lot of different things for admittance. They will probably want to see your portfolio in addition to transcripts, etc. They look at the other things you've done while in school - like community service, school groups, etc. My suggestion would be to apply and see what happens. The worst case - you don't get accepted (right now) and are out the application fees. But who knows - you could get in! It's definitely worth a shot.
- You will probably have to email someone who actually works in the school of architecture to find out basic requirements. http://soa.utexas.edu/admissions/undergraduate I'm not sure how hard it is to get into architecture at UT. I know business school is super hard to transfer into (like a 3.7 GPA). But just write killer essays and keep your grades up and I'm sure you'll get it :) (I'm in the College of Natural Sciences at UT at Austin)
